Principal Message

Good Morning Pershing Families!

Thank you to all the families who have taken note of the safety requests and are being more cautious at arrival and dismissal. The California Highway Patrol has also been stationing a patrol in our area during dismissal due to the increased complaints. Please remember that if the bell has not rung at 2:45p.m. (1:30p.m. on Thursdays), traffic will not move, so do not line up on the road to enter the parking lot with your car. Doing so blocks the flow of traffic down and past our school. Instead, wait along the edge of the road in an appropriate legal location that does not block any driveways or fire hydrants. Wait until after dismissal to wait to enter our parking lot pick-up line.

On Monday and Tuesday, students who applied for Rapid Learner will take the qualifying assessment to determine if they will receive a spot in the program for the 2022-2023 school year. The application deadline closed in January.

Next week schools across San Juan Unified School District will be closed in honor of President's day and Lincoln's birthday. There is no school February 21 - 25. School resumes Monday, February 28th.

Also, please note that March 8-11 are Parent-Teacher Conferences for Trimester 2, and teachers will coordinate parent-teacher conferences only for students in need of another conference. Parents may also request a meeting, but it is not required for students who are meeting grade level standards. March 8 - 11, Tuesday through Friday, are Minimum Schedule days, with dismissal at 11:25a.m. for Kindergarten through 6th grades (TK dismisses at 11:35a.m. daily all year).

If you have any questions, concerns, or need for clarification, please reach out. 916-979-8076, or

Mrs. Kendra Shelton
