Cross Country Fun run and walk... not dawdle 2019
Term 3 is Cross Country Season.
The Puketapu School Cross Country Fun Run & Walk...Not Dawdle is on Friday of week 4, Friday 16 August.
Races will begin at approximately 9.45am and it usually takes about 1.5 hours. Everyone takes part.
There are 2 circuits. The first one is on the school field for all 5,6,7,8,9 and 10 year olds.
The second one is the beach circuit. The route runs from the school field and out the Dillon Drive exit, down Dillon Drive to the start of the walkway where the big Norfolk Pine tree is. Then it goes along the beach to the walkway which the children follow to the Lantana Ave exit. From there they head up to Northpoint Church and cut through the car park and back to school. This is very well marshaled and supervised. If you would like to help with supervision on the day please let me know.
This year there are some new exciting events:
7 and 8 year olds will be able to compete in the beach circuit. They will be invited by their teacher to participate based on ability and confidence that they will show their school values while out in the community. They will have to have parent permission to participate. A notice will go home closer to the time.
9 and 10 year olds can self nominate to do the beach circuit but must have this endorsed by their teacher based on ability and confidence that they will show their school values while out in the community.
CCFR&W not dawdle is a fun day and children are encouraged to dress up in whanau colours. If they do they receive an extra whanau point at the finish line. This year there will be supporter points. Any supporter who comes dressed in the whanau colours of their child will be able to earn that whanau extra points. Think more than just a tshirt..... think tutus and face paint.
Tui - blue
Kiwi - yellow
Piwakawaka - red
Kakapo - green
Following our school event keen runners can enter the New Plymouth cross country events and placegetters from the Puketapu Event will also have the option to take part in the Taranaki Cross Country Champs run in Hawera on Wednesday 25 September.
Team Green are kindly going to sponsor us $450!
The money will be used to purchase spot prizes for participants.
Thank you so much Team Green!
Lost Property
This will be laid out this Friday afternoon for collection. Please come and check for items that your child has lost.
Anything left at 3.15 will be donated to charity.
Update on Hoodies & T-Shirts:
T-shirts: Were handed out on Tuesday - it's great to see lots at school today!
Hoodies: Will be here this week. (The reason they have taken longer is that we had to use a supplier that makes yellow hoodies so they have all been made to order.)
The next order for both T-shirts and Hoodies will be later this term.

Nits...
Please check your children's hair regularly for signs of headlice...at least weekly.
One of the cheapest and most effective ways to get rid of them:
- Apply lots of conditioner to dry hair.
- Leave for at least twenty minutes.
- Comb through with a fine tooth comb.
- Wash hair.
- Repeat process daily for at least two weeks.
Head lice have a three week life so check every head in the family every day for at least three weeks to help stop them coming back.
If you need further help, please contact your GP or the Public Health Nurse on 06 753 7790 ext 8780
