Week of February 1st - 7th, 2021
Hays High School celebrates our MCJROTC students for their recent performances!
Our Hays High School Marine Corps MCJROTC is starting off strong with their Drill and Rifle seasons! So far this year, the Rifle team has competed at Granbury High School, Atascocita High School, and Brenham High School, placing 1st place in every event.
The Drill team competed at Brenham High School in December and place 2nd overall out of 16 schools. They also placed 1st in Armed Exhibition, 1st in Unarmed Exhibition, 1st in Unarmed Regulation, and 3rd in Color Guard. Cadet Dominic Ramirez was named the best commander.
They also competed at Dayton High School on January 22nd, where they took 2nd place overall out of 15 teams. They placed 1st in Armed Exhibition and 3rd in Unarmed Regulation. Again, Cadet Dominic Ramirez was named the best commander, and Cadet Carla Huffman was named 2nd best Color Guard Commander.
Both teams have goals to compete for the national championship this year. All of us at Hays High School would like to congratulate the Hays MCJROTC Drill and Rifle teams and wish them good luck on bringing home a national championship in 2021.
Principal's Message
Good Evening Hays High School Parents & Students,
This week is an important week! We start semester two on February 1, 2021 and we also kick off course selection for the 2021-22 school year. It is important you stay up-to-date on the process and the activities to support both parents and students through the process. We need all students to complete their course registration sheets for 2021-22 on time to avoid courses being chosen for them. Later this spring, we will “lock in” and build our master schedule for 2021-22 with course choices during the month of February and early March.
I also want to take the opportunity to thank our PTSA President Ms. Dora Zapata and our entire PTSA board. Did you know they have a ”Hays High School teacher shout out” on their Facebook page? You can recognize a teacher by CLICKING HERE! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who are keeping our PTSA growing even during this crazy year!

Sleep -- it's not just something that you might get around to if you finish everything else; it's important! Really! Did you know that your brain retraces new neural connections while you sleep? So you'll actually remember that material you just studied BETTER if you sleep rather than pull an "all-nighter." When you sleep matters too; our bodies are made to sleep when it is dark and be awake when the sun is up. That timing (called Circadian rhythm) affects functioning in a big way. In fact, good sleep habits are linked to lots of positive outcomes, both physical AND emotional. CLICK HERE to learn more.
