Message from your Athletic Department
Bulldogs,
There is always exciting news coming from our CSD Athletic program. At this point in the year, some of our Fall sports teams are wrapping up their region play and preparing for a State Playoff run. Other teams are just getting into region play and are looking forward to matching up against our neighborhood rivals to battle for position. Already, our Winter sports are gearing up for tryouts in the next few weeks. And, believe it or not, we are already hosting interest meetings with our Spring sport athletes to get ready for January and February tryouts. Read through the many announcements below and check the website as we will be posting information regularly.
If you have any questions or need guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! Go Bulldogs!!

Partnering With The Positive Coaching Alliance
The Benefits of A Caring Climate
This year, the Bulldogs are partnering again with the Positive Coaching Alliance to enhance the experience of our students, coaches, and Bulldog families. The PCA has a vast number of resources that can help us make the most of our experience.
Take a look at this week's resource on "The Benefits of a Caring Climate." Studies are showing that athletes' performance increases the higher they rate the level of care in the climate of their team and program. We are grateful to have coaches who work hard to create a positive culture within their teams. Parents play an important role in ensuring that students feel cared for and communication between parents and coaches can go a long way to supporting a nurturing and successful environment.
"The 15 Benefits of A Caring Climate"
Great job to all of our coaches who have completed the "Developing the Triple-Impact Competitor" Professional Development Workshop provided by PCA!!

"Best Act of Sportsmanship in Little League History"
While competition is an important part of athletics, participation in our programs at Decatur High School and Beacon Hill Middle School is about much more than the results displayed on the scoreboards at the end of each contest. One of the great lessons that our programs teach is sportsmanship. Our opponents allow us to compete, drive us to improve, and should receive respect for the important role they play in our athletic experience. Check out this video of one of the great acts of sportsmanship from Little League Baseball. Let's continue to encourage our Bulldogs to approach the game and their opposition with respect, humility, and gratitude.
