Safety - Being Prepared
Throughout the school year we are required to practice various safety drill to prepare students and staff for what to do should an emergency occur. These include fire drills, tornado drills, lock down drills, and evacuation drills.
The evacuation drill requires us evacuate all students and staff to an off site location. The off site evacuation location is determined by our local law enforcement.
Yesterday we had our evacuation drill and everyone did a fantastic job remaining calm and safe!
A great big THANK YOU goes out to the Montgomery Police for their assistance!!!!!

CARNIVAL COMMITTEE NEEDS YOU!
We are looking for a few more people to be part of the Carnival Committee. It is a great way to get involved in your child’s school and meet other parents. Montgomery Elementary’s annual Carnival is our biggest fundraiser. Each year the PTO is able to provide more fun for our students because of the efforts of our volunteers. This year’s Carnival will be held the evening of Friday, January 27. The open Carnival positions include: Games, Silent Auction, Gift Shop and Decorations. We have one chair person for most of these areas but are looking to have two (or more) - so you won’t be doing it alone. If you want more information or are interested in co-chairing one of these positions, please contact Betsy Rinehart at (513)236-1639 or betsyrinehart@cinci.rr.com .

CALLING ALL RECYCLERS!
September 22nd is America Composts Day! We are celebrating by starting a plastic bottle cap/lid drive. The Green Team is asking everyone to save those plastic bottle caps and plastic lids. Don't throw them away, send them into school instead! The Green Team will use the caps and tops to make mosaic art for Earth Day, so we need lots of caps and lids in all colors and sizes. Help us show how saving the Earth is beautiful!
Please drop off your clean bottle caps and lids to the collection box under the stairs next to the flying pig. We will be collecting through the spring so bring in as many as you can! We can't wait to create something beautiful to celebrate Earth Day. Thank you for your help, Montgomery! GO GREEN and gold!
THE TRUE IMPACT OF BOOSTERTHON
BOOSTERTHON INSPIRES 3RD GRADER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Another year of Boosterthon fun is behind us! While it continues to be a successful fundraising event, the true impact of Boosterthon goes much deeper. Third grader, Adeline Murphy, is just one example of a student inspired by this year's themed character and fitness program. After seeing the Boosterthon character video about Alex, a young teen who rallied a team to create "Brickbots"-- LEGO creations he made from his personal LEGO supply-- and send them to kids in need, Adeline set out to make a difference in her own way.
Adeline made a list of different ways she could help people in her community and ultimately landed on an idea she calls "T-shirts and Teddy Bears". Adeline devised a plan to reach out to family members, friends and neighbors in an effort to obtain gently used T-shirt and stuffed animal donations to send to children who could really use "new" clothes and a soft cuddly critter to snuggle with. When asked why she chose T-shirts and Teddy Bears, Adeline said, "I thought of teddy bears because maybe it will help a kid be a little less lonely and every kid could use a new t-shirt. Boosterthon's message really resonated with Adeline, as she truly wants to make a difference and wants others to know that they can too. For more information about donating to T-Shirts and Teddy Bears, contact Alicia Murphy.
BOOSTERTHON THANK YOU
The PTO wants to extend one last THANK YOU to everyone who supported our Fall fundraiser. Because of Boosterthon, the PTO is able to bring our children programs such as COSI on Wheels and author visits, fund in-house programs such as Sycamore Wellness (monthly food tastings), Green Team (recycling and composting efforts), Make a Difference (community outreach), the Walking Program, and Family Fun Nights. We can also continue to support our classrooms and specials through dedicated teacher and room parent funding. Because of Boosterthon's overwhelming success, we have additional funds to spend on continued improvements to our school. It truly takes a village, and the PTO is humbled by our amazing community support. Kickball winners will be announced next week! Stay tuned.
