Loveland Leader
January 2022
Mission
The mission of Loveland elementary school, in partnership with our actively involved community, is to promote excellence and instill a desire for learning by challenging each individual within a safe, supportive environment.
Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families,
Your child brought home his/her report card today. We hope you will take the time to sit down with your child and talk about what growth and learning has occurred since the beginning of this school year. We have much to celebrate when it comes to good work and effort. We will continue to have high expectations for all of our students. Just this week we discussed the importance of continuing to hold our students to high standards in all areas. Likewise, we are all committed to holding ourselves to high standards and expectations as we support our students’ learning in every way. If you have questions about your child’s progress and achievement, please feel free to contact us. Remember that we are your partners when it comes to your child’s education!
Ms. Hornung

Welcome Back to Loveland Mr. Raydell Cordell III
Please help us welcome back Mr. Raydell Cordell III to Loveland as he will be student teaching in Mrs. Stevens’ fourth grade classroom. We are looking forward to having Mr. Cordell share his talents and gifts with our Loveland learners.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It is exciting to be back with our students as we begin the second semester.
All students can benefit from setting a goal for continuous improvement as the New Year begins. In addition, a good goal to set for the New Year is to help your child achieve their highest potential. Some great ways to do this are to check for homework every day, ask them about school, and read each evening.

Snow Days!
If bad weather forces the closing of school, you will receive an automated phone message/text message from the District the night before or the morning of the closing. Information will also be posted on the District’s Facebook page (Westside Community Schools - District 66), on Twitter (@West- side66), and on the District’s homepage (www.westside66. org). We will also ask local radio and television stations to make the announcement.
Winter Driving
Before and after school, the streets are filled with students walking, biking, and waiting for rides. Please be extremely careful while driving in the neighborhood, as the streets are snowy and icy. As the snow begins to pile up please drive extremely cautious in and out of the Loveland neighborhood. Please communicate with your child about the importance of safely walking to and from school during these winter months.
The Digital Dozen Award
Congratulations, Johnny!
Kindergarten Round Up!
We are creating a list of children who will be eligible for kindergarten next year. If you have a child who will be turning five years old on or before July 31, 2022 but haven’t received a call, or if you know of someone new to the neighborhood, please let Mrs. Carlson know. Soon we will be sending out important information about our parent meeting as well as Round Up day for the children.
LUNCH ACCOUNT
Remember to set up your child's lunch account through My School Bucks. This is an easy way to add money for a la carte items or extra portions for your child's favorite lunch items. They will thank you for that. When setting up your child(ren) you will need their student ID, which you can obtain by calling the front office.
Wednesday Dismissal
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the district collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.

2022 Battle of the Books
Mark your calendars to join us for the 2022 Battle of the Books on March 19, 2022 at Westside Middle School! This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2021-2022 Golden Sower nominees.
Please visit our FAQ or Rules pages for more information about the event. Registration will be in October. Happy reading!
