Library Redevelopment Update

Plans for the new library redevelopment continue to take shape. We will soon have the layout completely finalised. It's very exciting to see it all come together!

We are very grateful to the PTA and all of our Glenealy families and community for your continued support around fundraising for the new library.

Below are brief sketches of some proposed ideas so far for our new library. Click to enlarge.

Book Week - April 15 - 19

Glenealy will celebrate Book Week this year from April 15 - 19. We have lots of exciting events planned, such as book swaps, a reading photo contest, a dress-up day, guess-the-teacher quizzes and book sales from various publishing companies.

The PTA have kindly offered to sponsor well-known author Sarah Brennan to spend a day with us during the week, which will be a wonderful experience for all classes.

Book Week Dress-Up

We will also have a character dress-up day for students and staff, so start planning your child's costume now! Don't feel you need to spend a lot of money on a store-bought costume - simple, home-made costumes are best!

Get ready for Book Week! Catch Me Reading Photo Competition!

Ask a family member to take a photo of you reading – somewhere, anywhere! You can get ‘caught’ reading in bed, at the dinner table, brushing your teeth, walking the dog, beside the pool, at the beach, at a restaurant etc – be creative! Photos can be printed out and brought to the school library or emailed directly to Mrs. Oliver in the library – All entries in by April 15 please.

Student-Led Conference Book Sale Update

We would like to say a huge thank you to those Glenealy families that donated $50 or $100 towards the price of a new book for the library on student-led conference days. Altogether, thanks to you, we have been able to add 63 books to our collection! A fantastic effort - thank you!

Children who donated one of these books to the library will be the first to borrow it and most should be ready next week.

Scholastic Books have arrived!

The books that many students ordered from Scholastic have arrived! They have been given to students and sent home today - Friday!
Thank you for your order.
Please contact the library if there are any questions about your order.

Parent Lending Section in Library

We have a selection of books in the library, many of which were purchased by the PTA and are available for parent-only borrowing. These cover a range of different topics.
Parents may borrow these books through their child's account. Please see the library staff for assistance.

Parent Volunteers in the library

To keep our library running efficiently for the children, we would appreciate any helping hands - from 10 minutes to an hour of your time.

There are shelves to tidy, books to re-shelve and books to cover. If you can spare any time at all, no matter how little, it would be much appreciated.
