DECEMBER VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: PATIENCE
DEFINITION: WAITING WITHOUT COMPLAINING ...Throughout these four weeks of Advent, St. Bernard students will strive to PATIENTLY focus on the 4 different themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. The entire school community will seek to be the face of Christ to those in need of help. We all know what it is like to wait for our turn in line, for the results of a test, for an expected phone call...for Christmas! But how often do we wait patiently, without complaining? Paragraph 1832 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church lists patience as one of the twelve fruits, or perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us. If this fruit of patience is truly alive in us, we can control our emotions when something disagreeable happens and respond with calm instead of anger, dismay, or irritation. Patience involves going through suffering at times, without getting angry or upset. It involves trusting God that things will happen not in your time, but in His. As this unprecedented year 2020 draws to a close, never have we needed the virtue of Patience like we do now. May God continue to watch over us and our loved ones during these challenging times and may the virtue of Patience be increased in all of us.

Archangel Catholic Charities is “a social and service network of men across the Diocese of Dallas providing opportunities for fellowship”. This year's can food drive starts Thursday, December 3rd and ends on Friday, December 18th .In furthering Christ teachings during this Advent season please look within your heart and let's make this the best can food drive St. Bernard School has ever had.
