Scientific Revolution
Montrell G. 3rd period
what was the change?
The change refers to historical changes in thought and belief to changes in social and institutional organization that unfolded in Europe between 1550-1700
who were the people associated with the change
Issac Newton
Issac Newton proposed universal laws and the mechanical universe, such as his law of gravity and motion. The picture is Issac Newton's personal compass.
Galileo
Galileo discovered four moons that orbit Jupiter. He also invented an advanced telescope.
Nicholas Copernicus
Nicholas Copernicus asserted the heliocentric cosmos, which means that everything (all the planets) revolve around the sun.
How did the change impact society at the time?
The change impacted the society a lot. For example, it made the citizens of Europe question all of the things going on, from politics to the earth revolving around the sun. Previously , the citizens thought that everything revolved around the earth, but as a result of Copernicus they started to question that as well.
How is that change evident in today's modern society?
I think it is evident in modern society because it has made people smarter and more observant. I also believe that this will go on for a while in both our generation and every other from there on.
