Newsletter - Term 1, Week 10

Principal
Over the past three years with the impact Covid has had within schools I would have to say without a doubt this term has probably been our toughest. From staff and kids requiring to wear face coverings to Covid spreading within our school community. The resilience everyone is showing is admirable and we are looking forward to Term 2.
Moving to Orange today has meant that we will be able to plan school gatherings again, our Friends of School can begin to organise some key fundraising events and we may even get to have a normal Pet Day this year!!!!
If you are managing to get away with your family over the next couple of weeks enjoy the time together and get some well deserves rest.
School Consultation
Below is a link to complete a school consultation survey around letting us know what your aspirations are for your children while they are at Otautau School. The survey has been split into three areas; Year 1-3, Year 4-6, Year 7-8. This is going to help us get a picture of what parents are wanting their child to be learning as they move through the school i.e. the aspirations could be different if you had a child in Year 1 compared with a child in Year 7. The idea is for us to get a real picture of the type of topics and skills you think are important for your child to be learning.
This survey is going to be live for around 6 weeks. If you have two children at school in different year groups then we would like you to complete the survey twice as the aspirations you have for each of your children may differ slightly.
The survey will take around 10 minutes to complete and it will follow up with a face-to-face consultation in the second half of Term 2.
