PARCC Reminders for 3rd-6th Grade Teachers - SECOND REMINDER

As a reminder, you are required to read the administrators manual that I gave you via email. If you need another copy, please let me know. We're beginning PARCC testing around the second week of April, so you have plenty of time to read the manual.

Please use your PLC or mid-day collaboration time to complete the PARCC Webinar. You should be able to find it via this link. I took the webinar last week and it takes you step by step through the administration process. Scott shared a PDF of the Power Point from the webinar. If you need that email forwarded, please let me know.

Here's tutorial for students : http://parcc.pearson.com/tutorial/

Finally, here is a link to sample items, but they are in grade level bands.

Also, last year the coaches created constructed response practice for all 3rd-6th grade teachers. These were done in a Google Form so students could practice typing in that tiny box.

Here's where they can access the constructed response practice:

Search your Google Drive for “last name PARCC Practice”.

Please make sure to peruse the PARCC released items site. You can find it here.

Finally, the BEST way to prepare your students for PARCC is to offer high-quality instruction focused on the Common Core State Standards. Also, the more at ease students are with the testing platform, the more energy they can invest into showing what they know.

Notes and Reminders

  • There are only 13 student attendance days until the end of the third quarter. Plan wisely.

  • The PARCC schedule was sent out on Tuesday and changes are due TODAY. If you see any problems with the proposed PARCC schedule, please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

  • Please include in your sub plans that subs should supervise recess during what would otherwise be your collaboration time.

  • If you are storing any items in Room 16, please remove them. If it's furniture, I will send it to storage or get rid of it. Email me with any questions.

  • Please email Liz Epley if you are interested in curriculum writing this summer.

  • Please don't forget to spend your supply money. :)

  • Have you used your PTO money?
