December 2022

Big picture

Dear Jepson Families,

One of our main goals at our school is for all students to be involved in campus life and connected to our school in positive ways. Students can get involved by participating in a variety of clubs and sports as well as by enjoying fun activities organized by our outstanding Leadership students. Students learn about our campus and upcoming activities through a student-produced video each Monday and daily morning announcements. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your child get involved.

We hope the holiday season brings you joy and opportunities to share special moments with family and friends.

Go Jags,

Tom McHale, Principal

Joe Cooney, Assistant Principal

Jackie Carmona, Dean of Learning Support

Athletic News!

On December 10, Jepson Wrestling is headed to Elk Grove for its first tournament. On December 18 they will be wrestling at the Nor Cal Invitational at Will C. Wood High School. On December 20 they will travel to Vaca Pena for their first dual meet of the year.

The basketball teams have home games on: December 6 and 8. They play away games on December 13, 15, 20.

Because of limited seating:

Vaca Pena is requiring all Jepson visiting BASKETBALL student body fans to leave their backpack at home and to have a current student ID for admission. They are anticipating having room for 25 visiting students.

Golden West is also requiring all visiting Jepson BASKETBALL student body fans to leave their backpack at home and to have a current student ID for admission AND be accompanied by an adult.

Sierra Vista is asking visiting fans to stay outside until an administrator welcomes them in. Sierra Vista CAN ONLY FIT 2 fans per player

Counseling Cares

Hello families,

Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy will be here on Thursday, January 12th during study hall to do a presentation for those 8th graders who wish to attend there next year. Sign up in the Jepson Counseling Office. Only students who sign up will be allowed to attend the presentation.

The counseling office is a place where many students visit for various needs - scheduling, anxiety, peer conflict, grades, etc. One of our goals this year has been to create a wellness room for our students to access when they need time to decompress and focus on mental wellness. We have many needs to help get our wellness center up and running. If you are able to donate, please consider donating from our wishlist.

Fall Sports Banquet

Our Jepson student athletes enjoyed undefeated championship seasons in Boys and Girls Cross Country, Volleyball, and Flag Football. Our students’ success, and the lifelong skills and friendships they gained, would not have been possible without the outstanding leadership of Athletic Director Chris Marino and our dedicated and talented coaches: Luis Velasquez and Jeff Maghoney (Cross Country), Tony Delgado and Clint Birch (Flag Football) and Tammy Campbell (Volleyball). Congratulations Jaguars!

Egg Drop, 8th grade Science

Mr. Lee, Mr. Rivera Cruz, and Ms. Veenstra and their science students enjoyed an exciting event where students put their knowledge of physics and creativity to the test. Well done!
