Congratulations to the following students for their success at the State Trumbauer Theatre Festival held at the University of North Alabama in Florence over the weekend of December 1 and 2. Lillie Chapman, Skyler Elmore, and Jake Campos all received superior and excellent ratings in their categories. Samantha Jones won 3rd place in the state in her category of Costume Design. These kids worked extremely hard to get to the state level and they made Buckhorn High School proud!

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL: #1 IN ASWA RANKINGS

Big Area WINS for Buckhorn Basketball last Friday! Varsity Boys (7-1, 1-0) beat Bob Jones 61-50 in Class 7A, Area 8 match-up. Denver Jones led the Bucks with 20 points.
Varsity Girls (7-4, 1-0) had a huge victory over Bob Jones, 53-21!! Sarah Suttle had 13 points & five steals for the Bucks, Najah Moore had 12 points & 12 rebounds and Aliya Franklin had 10 points & nine boards!!
On Tuesday, Varsity Boys had another big win over Huntsville, 75-55. Varsity Boys are currently ranked #1 in Class 7A Basketball!

B.U.C.K.S. ADVISORY - "THE GIFT OF YOU"
December's focus is "The Gift of You!"
In this week's session, teachers spent a few minutes talking with their advisory students. What are their plans for the break? Are they ready for finals/exams? What are they hoping to get for Christmas?
Teachers also reminded students about next week's exam schedule and made sure the students understood when their tests are AND that Tuesday & Wednesday are FULL days and Thursday & Friday are HALF days!!
We will have homeroom on Thursday, January 4th to distribute next semester's schedules. Our Next B.U.C.K.S. Advisory is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2018!

BUCKHORN BOWLING TOPS JAMES CLEMENS
The BHS Bowling team came away with an impressive win on Tuesday night against James Clemens! It was an incredibly close match, with BHS going into the last round with one less pin than James Clemens. The team worked extremely well together in this tense situation, and came through in the end with 48 more pins than JCHS.

JROTC CANNED FOOD DRIVE
BHS JROTC has been working hard the last few weeks collecting cans for the Bobbie Odom Food Pantry at New Market United Methodist Church. Coach Jamie Reese's 3rd block class collected the most cans and won the pizza party for their overwhelming generosity. Thank you to everyone who donated and provided local families the food they need during this holiday season.

The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools!
