Test Blueprints
Test Blueprints for SC READY ELA and Math grades 3-8, Science grades 4 and 6
The test blueprint for each subject specifies the total number of points on each grade-level test, as well as the approximate number of points per reporting category or domain. Reporting categories group similar standards within each content area. Each reporting category classifies a student’s performance as “Low,” “Middle,” or “High.” This classification is based on the subset of items that assesses the reporting category. The possible number of items for each reporting category can be found in the test blueprint.
- SC READY English Language Arts 3-5 Test Blueprint for 2023–24 (582 Kb PDF) and SC READY ELA Assessment Boundaries for Grades 3-5 (758 Kb PDF)

•The Desmos calculator is the recommended calculator for SC READY.
•Using the Desmos calculator will reduce security risks and the burden on test administrators to clear memories on hand-held calculators before and after testing.
•Desmos is built into the online testing engine:
-Grade 6 students will have access to both the Desmos basic and scientific calculators during
the mathematics calculator section and the science test.
-Grades 7 and 8 students will have access to both the Desmos scientific and graphing
calculators during the mathematics calculator section.
•Desmos can be accessed for free at www.desmos.com and used by students during daily instruction.
•The Desmos calculator includes a “slider.” Students should know that they will not have access to the “sliders” when taking SC READY.

Climate Surveys (PLEASE READ)
Script for Student Surveys:
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is utilizing a Climate Survey for accountability/report cards again this year which will be issued and collected through the PowerSchool ECollect system. Students in grades 3-12, and teachers are required to participate. Schools must administer the climate survey to at least 80% of its teachers and students or risk their report card rating being lowered by one level. Schools will also need to contact parents of students in grades 3-12 to let them know there is a parent survey that should be completed in the Parent portal. The parent, teacher and student survey window is now open and will run through March 29, 2024 as we want to complete our surveys before spring break. ALL students and teachers are EXPECTED to participate. Please make sure you are keeping up with a list of students and teachers who have not completed the survey so you can ensure they do by the deadline.
Teacher and Student School Climate Surveys Teacher and Student School Climate Surveys will be delivered and submitted through Ecollect during the survey administration window. They will be released directly to teacher and student respondents to complete and submit through an Ecollect form accessible through Teacher Portal (for teachers/eligible staff members) or Student Portal (for students). We suggest having your teachers take the survey during one of your faculty meetings as it will be easier to keep up with those teachers who have completed the survey. Students should take the survey as a class so teachers are available to assist their students as needed. You choose which class you want to utilize. You and the teachers need to keep a record of who completed the survey and who still needs to take it.
Parents and Guardian School Climate Surveys The Parent and Guardian School Climate Surveys will be administered through the Qualtrics platform, and links to the Qualtrics surveys will be delivered to parents and guardians through Ecollect forms accessible through Parent Portal. Parents will use Ecollect to access the links to their Qualtrics survey for a given student, and they will submit their responses through the Qualtrics form.
Schools are responsible for informing parents how to access the Parent and Guardian Survey and providing the due date to complete the survey. As the due date for returning the Parent and Guardian survey approaches, schools may wish to contact parents and guardians to remind them of the due date. Schools are encouraged to provide access to a computer or mobile device to those families with no computer or internet access so that they may take the survey.
School Climate Indicator Results from the Teacher Survey and the Student Survey will be used to calculate a School Climate indicator for use in each schools’ report card rating.
The script for teachers to use is below:
Teacher Script Before starting the Student School Climate Survey, the teacher/proctor should read the following script to students: “Today you are being asked your opinions about our school. There are no right or wrong answers. When you read each item, think about the entire year rather than a specific event or something that happened once or twice. Please provide honest and true answers so that we can change and improve our school. Do not talk to other students, but you can ask me a question if you do not understand a statement. For the majority of the survey, there are five choices for each sentence. Decide whether you disagree, mostly disagree, mostly agree, or agree with each sentence. Do your best to decide. If you do not know anything about the subject or the statement does not apply to you, please mark “Not Answer.” There is one statement in which you may select all that apply. If none of the choices apply, you may leave that one statement blank.” (Example in which “No Answer” would make sense: Students attending a virtual school would mark “No Answer” to a question about the cleanliness of the school bathroom.)
