Cumberland, North Smithfield & Lincoln Prevention Coalitions

Communicating with you, so together, we can promote a safe and healthy drug free environment.

January 2018

And just like "THAT"...the first month of the new year is a wrap! The holidays are officially packed away for another year, and it is time to get back to work! New Year's Resolutions have either been forgotten or perhaps now become habit. We look forward to 2018 with hope, optimism and above all, gratitude! Our mission becomes all the more obtainable because of the tremendous support we receive from our communities!

“Without Valentine's Day, February would be... well, January." ~Jim Gaffigan

Wednesday, Feb. 21st, 6:30pm

145 Old River Road

Lincoln, RI

Please Join us on Wednesday, February 21st 6:30pm at the Lincoln Public Library for our monthly Lincoln Prevention Coalition meeting!

The Lincoln Prevention Coalition is a community coalition of volunteers and professionals focused on reducing the substance use by youth through education, policy changes, media and strong community involvement. To help us achieve this goal, we reach out to leaders in business, community organizations, health, safety, local government, community leaders, parents and to students in our community by asking them to work with us on and with the coalition, especially now with the award of a federal Drug Free Communities Grant.

We will be discussing the Drug Free Communities Grant, as well as the many projects and activities planned in the upcoming months! Bring a friend!

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Cumberland: A proactive approach to the growing national problem of vaping.

Kudos to the Administrators of the Cumberland School Department! On January 16th, presentations at the Cumberland High School focused on vaping & the dangers surrounding this prevalent problem with teens. We were honored to be a part of the discussion and the opportunity to present Hidden in Plain Sight to the 100+ adults present.
It is a HUGE concern among parents and educators alike for teens. We are repeating this information again in this issue to help parents identify and understand the varieties and complexities of vaping, as well as the dangers. Prevention and education go hand in hand. Thank you to the dozens of parents that are dedicated to educating themselves & continuing conversations with their teens to help prevent substance abuse!!

Check out the article in the Valley Breeze HERE about the evening!

In addition to the opportunity to be a part of the "Town Hall Meeting", The Cumberland Prevention Coalition also presented Hidden in Plain Sight at McCourt Middle School as well as North Cumberland Middle School.
