Hello Ventana Families
We are so excited to welcome our new families to Ventana Vista and also welcome our
returning families. Avril Buick is our School Secretary and Emy Reidle is our Office Clerk, I am
sure most of you have met them, they are both very helpful and can answer your questions. I
am Dr. Dauman and I am beginning my second year here at Ventana Vista, I love it here and I
am grateful for everyone’s support that they provided me last year.
Meet the Teacher/Open House
We are excited to have families on campus and have you meet your child’s teachers. You will
receive an email from your child’s teacher on Wednesday, August 2nd so you know which teacher(s) you will be meeting, Friday, August 4, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon, grades 1st through 5th will stop by anytime to meet the teacher. Remember to take the bus from the Basha’s at Kolb/Sunrise. You will need to plan about 30 minutes for this event.
Kindergarten families are invited on Saturday, August 5th from 8:00 am - 10:00 am you will be able to park in the lot, come on campus and meet the teacher(s), then practice drop off with Dr. Dauman.
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Ms. Riedle, our office clerk, will be emailing you this year's hang tag for your rearview mirror. Please print this and give to anyone who will be picking up your child from school.
This number is specific to your family. Please have the hang tag up when you enter the school from Kolb. A staff member enters your number there and it calls your child to the loading zone where you will meet them. If you don't have the hang tag, it delays the process for everyone.
Please throw away last year's tag. Your child will likely have a new number this year as they are assigned alphabetically.
½ DAY ONLY KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:
The loading zone will be locked at 1/2 day Kinder dismissal.
Please park in the North parking lot and walk to the front of the school, where the flagpole is, to pick up your child at 11:00 am on MWTHF and 10:15 am on Tuesday. Your child's teacher will walk the children to the front of the school and meet you there.
Please call the front office at 520-209-8000, if your child will be taking the bus or a child care van.
For information on Kindergarten Plus please call Debbie at 520-209-7550 to register.
KNOW WHERE TO GO AFTER I DROP THEM OFF?
When you arrive, you will pull into the loop loading/unloading zones and drop your child off in a zone. Be sure to pull as far forward as traffic will allow and be sure your child is ready to open the door and exit the vehicle to keep an efficient process for us.
Students will go directly to the playground or if they are getting breakfast, they will go to the
MPR. All students will meet their teacher on the playground and all teachers will be on the
playground the first week every day in the morning to meet their students. Please be sure your
child knows their teacher’s name. Each grade level also will have colored balloons.

Due to the bond being passed last year, there is a lot of work being completed on campus. Here are the major improvements.
Office
The office was under construction to make it more secure. You will need to ring the doorbell, we will ask for the purpose of your visit and then let you in. You will need to speak with office staff before you will be allowed on campus and you will need to be let on campus by our office staff.
If you are only picking up students, they will be called down as you wait in the office area. You will see new walls, doors and counters. This work is not completed, the work will be completed on evenings and weekends as the rest of the materials arrive.
Lower Field
The lower field has a concrete path to it now and they have also laid some sod and planted grass seed. It is beginning to grow and we will not be using the lower field the first two weeks of school to assist with the grass taking and growing.
Windows & Fencing
Security film has been put on all of the windows that will not be fenced in. For example; the North side of the building will not be fenced so all windows on that side of the building already have security film on them.
The entire campus will be fenced in, but we are waiting on fencing supplies. There will be a fence to deter visitors from walking onto campus from the front of the building. When the fencing is complete the back will also be fenced in. Community garden access will not be blocked.
Upper Field
The upper field has concrete walkways weaving around it and a whole new irrigation system is being installed. We are slated for a new play structure for the upper field next summer.
