Writing- We are learning how to write stories using details both in our drawings and writing.

Math- We are learning all about addition and subtraction to ten and word problems.

Science- We are learning about how a solid can change to a liquid.

Social Studies- We are learning about rules, laws, who our leaders are at home and school, and all about public officials.

Daily Folders

Did you know your child brings home a daily folder? Please check it daily!!

Sight Words

Sight words will be a test grade each grading period. For the first six weeks they will be assessed at the end of the six weeks. Beginning with the second six weeks they will be assessed every 3 weeks. Sight word lists are in their daily folders labeled by the week.

We do practice them at school but it is important that students are also practicing them at home for additional exposure.

Big picture

Please be mindful of what your child brings for snack. There are several children with peanut allergies in first grade this year. Also, snack should consist of one item. Please, no Cheetos, Takis, etc. as it is a working snack. They may bring a bottle of water as well.
