Stone Bank School
Reaching Out ~ March 2, 2018
From Mrs. Davies
As you know, the staff at Stone Bank regularly analyzes our student data. We review individual student MAP assessments, behavior referrals, as well as other classroom level assessments. We do this to ensure our students are making the progress necessary for the next grade level and to be successful when they transition to high school.
Recently, Arrowhead shared some data with the K-8 administrators on the progress of the current freshman class. What I learned from that data is our former Stone Bank students demonstrated they were well prepared for academic success in high school. One metric used by AHS is the Aspire College Readiness Benchmarks. (The Aspire Assessment is part of the ACT family of assessments.) In English, Reading and Writing our students had the highest percentage of students meeting or exceeding the benchmark compared to all other K-8 schools. We had the second highest percentage meeting or exceeding the benchmark in Math and Science.
Student grades are also pretty impressive! In English, 70% of the Stone Bank students received an A or B, in their first semester. In math, 73% earned an A or B during their first semester.
The last data point shared was the total disciplinary referrals for last year’s freshman (now sophomores). In total there were about 375 behavioral referrals. Only 5% of those referrals involved Stone Bank students. (They’re still following the Stone Bank Way!)
We are extremely proud of the success of our former Stone Bank students. Thank you to our teachers for their dedication to our students, and to our parents for trusting us with your children each day.

Stone Bank Girl Scouts Troop 6022 & Student Council all school Food Drive
There will be a food drive to benefit the North Lake Food Panty starting on Monday, March 5 and running through Thursday, March 15. The food pantry provides groceries for over 50 families each week. They are especially in need of canned fruits and vegetables, but gratefully except all nonperishable food items. Our Sixth Grade Girl Scout Troop will be running the food drive in conjunction with Student Council. Prizes will be awarded to the classes that donate the most items to the food drive. Please donate generously to help fight hunger in our community. Boxes will be placed in each classroom to collect all donations.
