Big picture

So, the weather outlook this week looks a little uncertain and we are planning on making the call on whether Field Day will be Tuesday or Wednesday by the end of the day tomorrow. Please stay tuned for an email tomorrow and help us out with one of the opportunities listed below.

Hello - Field Day is coming up soon. The water balloon toss is a favorite event during that day. We are currently short on water balloons for MANY classes across all grades. Please consider signing up to contribute balloons for your child's class. Also, if you are using the "bunch-o-balloons" or similar product, please be sure to tie off each balloon, not just use the elastic. The elastics allow water to leak out and we end up unable to use many of them.

Grade 4 water balloons needed for the following teachers: Woodward, DiBona, Labriola, Popsuj, Tarby, Thomas (click HERE)

Grade 5 water balloons needed for the following teachers: Oeser-Rhein, Pittorino, Buffone, Doherty (click HERE)

Grade 6 water balloons needed for the following teachers: Pritchett, Thompson, Johnson, Gowen, Gardner, Donahue, Caspariello (click HERE)

We are also in need of a few EZ Up tents to use for shade. We have greatly appreciated the generosity of folks letting us use these in the past! Please email Kelley Petralia at if you are able to loan us one for the day.

We need parent volunteers from each grade level to help out with the day's activities! Please visit one of the following links and volunteer if you can.

Summer Reading

Children grow into readers by reading, reading, and reading some more! The summer is a great time to foster a love of reading. Children’s book author Kate DiCamillo states, “Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift.” Please partner with us this summer to support your children in enjoying reading. Attached is a flyer with some ideas of how you can keep your children reading, listening, and writing this summer. They’re fun and easy! Here is a website with more information.

STEAM into Summer:

Want to make your own slimy goo? Get kitchen chemicals to bubble and fizz? Or maybe construct a paper bridge? Join us this summer for hands-on fun and exciting STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math).

Activities are geared towards students entering grades 4-6, a different topic will be explored each week.

Sessions are offered at no cost and will take place at the Westborough Public Library on Mondays 6:30pm-8:00pm starting June 24th. Space is limited, online registration at the Westborough Public Library website.

The activity is sponsored by members of the Westborough High School Robotics team “Redshift”. More details and information about each week can be found here:
