EDUCATORS OF THE WEEK
This week's Educators of the Week are Mrs. Jamie Noyes and Mrs. Angela Hoey. These two dynamic individuals are the amazing Administrative Assistants at the SRS. Whether they are working with students, staff or visitors, when you walk into their office, you are always greeted with a smiling face and a helping hand. There is no task that they will not tackle and they are a critical part of the positive climate and culture that permeates the SRS. We are fortunate to have both Mrs. Noyes and Mrs. Hoey on our team and we thank them for all that they do to make the SRS and our District a better place. #bettertogether.

MPSD's MCKINNEY-VENTO PROGRAM AND WHO IT SERVES
The MPSD McKinney-Vento Program’s highest priority is educational stability for vulnerable students who are homeless or in foster care. While this is their main focus, the program also seeks to help families feel embraced and supported by their community. The McKinney-Vento/Enrichment Liaison works with students and their families, providing services to address these students’ academic, physical and social-emotional needs. The liaison also assists families with connecting to other supportive services agencies in the district.
Students who are homeless are at greatest risk for school drop-out. We presently have 64 students who meet the criteria for homelessness. By addressing their needs and providing opportunities for activities and peer interaction, they feel more connected to their community and more likely to stay in school.
Some of the needs addressed through the McKinney-Vento program include; clothing, food, medical, educational materials and after school/summer programming.
The Liaison seeks to provide financial assistance to school related events and any items the student(s) may need when waivers are not available.
On occasion, the liaison helps students and families attend community events, allowing for a connection that families who are facing economic hardship might rarely get to make.
In addition, for the last 4 years during the holiday season, the Marshfield Real Estate Cooperative has partnered with the Marshfield Public Schools’ McKinney-Vento Liaison for Students Experiencing Homelessness. Together, and with the help of our generous community, they have raised funds for homeless students and their families in Marshfield to help bring some holiday cheer, and to assist with their ongoing needs throughout the year.

"ADDRESSING HATE IN SCHOOL SPORTS" CONFERENCE
Representatives from Marshfield High School joined 115 schools from across the Commonwealth yesterday at the TD Garden for a conference on “Addressing Hate in School Sports”.
The event, sponsored by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), brought school districts together with educational and state leaders to promote the expectation that all athletes, fans, and school community are responsible for establishing respect for everyone as our baseline at all of our events.
MIAA Director, Robert Baldwin noted that, "We can use the entity of sports to talk about what good behavior is, what right behavior is." We look forward to having everyone in the MPSD community join us in making this happen at all of our events.
