Gladstone School Newsletter - Week 6 Term 4, 2021. 26/11/21
Te Karere a te Tumuaki (Principal's Message)
Kia ora tātou katoa (Hi/greetings/hello everybody). We have had a busy week leading up to the production filming next Tuesday. The performance is looking great and we can't wait to share it with you all. Teachers are busy finishing off end of year assessments and reports. Caregiver copies of reports are being sent home on Monday the 13th of December.
Y4-8 students wanting to participate in the church Christmas Choir are asked to please email Mrs Head asap. Practices start next week here at school. kate@gladstone1.school.nz.
We are inviting Year 6-8 students to bring their togs and a towel if they would like to participate in lunchtime swims from Monday onwards.
Behaviour issues always spike towards the end of Term 4 and we are doing what we can to mitigate, navigate and deal with these. It's always helpful to maintain open lines of communication with the school and see that students are as rested and relaxed as possible.
New Zealand is moving to the traffic light system on the 3rd of December. How this effects schools is currently being worked on at ministry level. From what we understand, current requirements at Level 2 will stay in place for schools until the end of the school year with a new set of traffic light requirements being developed ready for the start of Term 1 2022.
Noho ora mai (stay well, look after yourself),
Belinda Bunny
Positons Available
We are seeking a keen person who would be interested in being co-oped onto the BoT to take over the 'Grants' portfolio from the fabulous Mark Edwards who is stepping down from his co-opted position at the end of this year. Securing additional grant funding is an important piece of work because as you know, our funding allocation from the Ministry of Education doesn't stretch very far at all. Please contact Tanya Klue - bot@gladstone1.school.nz if interested.
The other position we have available is the pool manager - the awesome Clint Anderson is moving on when his son Jack finishes Year 8 in December. Now that we have a new pool liner and filter system the job is much more streamlined than it has been in the past. It may be a job that can be shared between 2 people. Please contace Graham Brown - graham@gladstone1.school.nz if interested.
