BMA Specifics
Teachers,
Please be mindful that in order for Alisha White to work with any student in your class you must have started RtI for behavior on that student (unless the student has an IEP with behavior goals). The "golden ticket" is a copy of the Tier 2 Intervention plan placed in Ms. Hood's box. This will allow her the opportunity to write lesson plans and develop strategies for this student. If you need help writing the behavior goals, please let Ms. Hood know. She WANTS to help you do this!
Mrs. White's job is to be assigned to specific children to collect evidence regarding RtI and to help build capacity for classroom behaviors for students in the RtI process or with an IEP for behavior.
SLO/GBE
Teachers, please begin to complete your mid-year SLO/GBE information in Classroom Mosaic. Let me know of a Wednesday grade level meeting that you would like to use to complete the mid-year check-in.
Right now, Kindergarten and 1st are the only teams on the calendar.
Counselor's Corner
On Friday, February 8th 2nd-5th grade will be participating in JA for a day. This half day workshop will kick off our career unit in Guidance.
JA for a day is dedicated to teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills. Volunteers present the JA curriculum to students – giving students the opportunity to benefit from the volunteer’s background and experience.
Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy. We do so by helping teachers support their students with 21st century skills including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and career readiness.
Shout Outs
Shout out to Elaine Jothen for making us laugh every morning in the cafeteria. Her interactions with the kids is genuine and always entertaining!

Mentor Training
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please let me know.
In preparation for the district’s teacher mentoring needs for 2019-2020, we have scheduled SC Mentor Training for February 18-19, 2019. The training will be conducted at the Central Office from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This training is for teachers not currently certified as teacher mentors. The training will be held to a limited number of teachers, and teachers are registered in the order received. If a substitute is needed, he/she will not be taken from the school’s sub pool. We will cover the expense for the two-day substitute.
Requirements for attending SC Mentor Training
Teachers interested in serving as a mentor must:
· hold a valid South Carolina professional educator certificate;
· have a minimum of one year of successful teaching experience in South Carolina at the continuing contract level;
· be either a current practitioner or have been employed in a South Carolina public school system within the past five years; and
· have the recommendation of a school administrator and a district's Teacher Support Specialist.
