Come Live in New York!

You won't regret it!

The Best Spot in the New World!

When it comes to geographic superiority, New York has it all! It is located in the Middle Colonies, and is north of Pennsylvania and West of the New England Colonies such as Massachusetts. Its place in the center of the colonies made it one of the best spots for shipments from Europe to come and unload supplies since they can travel to the rest of the colonies from here. So if you want easy access to supplies, come here! The Hudson River nearby is also an excellent source of transportation. All these features stimulated the economy to give New York a massive economic advantage over many of the other colonies!

More Religious Freedom!

Here in New York, we are more tolerant of different religions than those Puritans in Massachusetts. We have people from all over the world here, and we are tolerant of all types of Christianity except Roman Catholic!

Friendly Neighbors!

No one likes a war. Luckily for us, the Iroquois and Algonkian tribes nearby are friendly and always willing to trade. Don't get caught up in the wars with Native Americans in other areas, come to New York and stay safe!

Fertile Soil!

No one likes to grow hungry. The environment here is much better for farming than the rocky soil in New England or the intense heat in the South. Live in New York, and forget what hunger ever felt like!

A Fair Government!

New York is a Royal Colony, meaning that it is ruled by officials appointed by the monarch of Great Britain. Don't worry about your freedom being infringed on, colonists can still elect their own legislative! In fact, the colonial legislative can pay or delay the payment of the governor, so it is in his best interest to listen to you!

Highly Demanded Exports!

New York trades in many things, including agricultural products such as corn and wheat and natural resources such as timber, furs, coal, and iron ore. We also export some manufactured goods such as plows, tools, kettles, locks, and nails. All these are objects that are useful and sought after by customers, so don't worry about not being able to sell your goods!

A Brief History

Of course, you probably want to know a bit more about the background of the place you are going to live in, so let's get started with the founding of New York! It was initially founded by the Dutch as a means to trade with the natives and called New Amsterdam. Later, in 1664, it was conquered by the British and renamed to New York, under the ownership of the Duke of York. Colonel Nichols became the governor in name of the Duke of York and later resigned to Governor Lovelace in 1667. A few of the later governors suppressed the rights of the people, but in 1691, Governor Sloughter called together an assembly that created a constitution that guaranteed various rights such as trials by jury, freedom from taxation, and toleration of most religions.
