Walkathon Information!

6 more days until Walkathon!! We had an amazing first counting day today, raising just over $16,000!!! Keep collecting to help us beat last year's totals of $21,000. Walkathon is one of our leading fundraisers, and all of the money collected goes directly back to our students and staff at E.H. Greene. You can continue to make pledge donations online at http://tinyurl.com/EHGreeneWalkathon. We'll have more fabulous raffles on Walkathon Day Thursday! We gave the envelopes back so students can continue collecting pledges. We will do a final collection on the day of the Walk-A-Thon, September 28th.

We can still use volunteers to help make Walkathon a success. Please consider helping as a monitor or counter. You can walk with your child too! Sign up at Walkathon Volunteers

Shoe Drive

We will also be giving back to our local community by collecting GENTLY used adult and kid shoes (*no cleats or dance shoes*) to Matthew 25's 'Back on Track' program. A shoe collection bin is in the school entrance.

Student T-Shirts

Order forms for student T-Shirts were sent home in the Green Folder the past two weeks. If your student would like one please click on the appropriate link to submit your order. You will need to send $8.00 cash or check (payable to E.H. Greene School) to your child's homeroom teacher in order to receive your shirt. We would like all students to wear their team shirt for the Walkathon.

If you ordered a t-shirt online, please be sure to send in your payment, marked with your child’s name. We have had to order more Team T-shirts in some sizes. If you paid for a shirt and have not received it yet, please be patient. Our order should be coming in soon. Your child received an email today to let them know if his/her shirt is on order.

Donate to Help Irma Survivors

Morgan Perdue, Audrey Thomas, and Carly Thiel are collecting new or gently used school supplies for students in Florida who lost everything during Hurricane Irma. Please send in books, folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, and art supplies. There are bins in the front lobby to organize them. The last day to donate is Thursday, September 28.

Parent Lunch Week

We had an overwhelming number of Greene School Parents that took some time out of their hectic schedules to have lunch with our students. 434 to be exact! We hope you enjoyed meeting some of your child's new friends. Shout out to our volunteer greeters: Carrie Preissler, Camilla Millar, Emily Lemmons, Diane VanderBrink, Debbie Flinchpaugh-Kirby, Jill O'Connell, Amy Cecilia, Erin Truter, and Meredith Towbin.

Picture Re-Takes

Any student who did not get their photo taken on "Get Connected Day" , any student who is new, and anyone who needs a re-take, should plan on having their photo taken on October 2nd. Photos will be taken between 8 am and 12 pm. This will be your last chance to have your picture in the yearbook.

PBIS for Parents - Cafeteria Expectations

This week’s video features cafeteria behavior. Please review this video with your child and emphasize the importance of including others. We work hard to make sure no one sits alone at lunch. Another important skill in the cafeteria is cleaning up after yourself. Our custodians clean the tables in between groups, but it’s a big help to have the students clean up after themselves. Please see the link below to view the video.

Have you heard about our First Classes Passes? Be sure to ask your child about why they might receive a First Class Pass and what rewards they can “buy” with them.

Please begin clipping and mark your calendars for our fall Box Tops collection, October 2- 6. The wing in each grade that collects the most box tops will receive an extra recess! Students should please turn Box Tops in to their homeroom teacher. For more information including a list of participating products, visit www.boxtops4education.com.

A Message from Hamilton County Public Health

Given the popularity of some of these modifications, especially among youth today, Hamilton County Health Commissioner, Tim Ingram, would like to share some details of the report, as well as guidelines for those interested in these techniques.
