Sheiko's 3rd Grade
Cloud Learning Newsletter- Week of 05/11/20
This week is assessment week.
Virtual Field Day
Don't forget to send pictures to chenise.miller@wbsd.org of the Virtual Field Day activities your child/children completed. Also, use #SheikoFieldDay2020 on any social media outlet if you post pictures.
This is Assessment Week
Beginning Monday, we will be preparing the students for their upcoming assessment performance task. For ELA the students will be viewing a virtual zoo habitat and deciding on improvements that need to be made. The students are to do the animal they used for their research project or penguins. Some students chose to select an animal outside of cheetah, octopus, polar bear or elephant. If this is true for your child it is highly recommended that they choose penguins. More information will be shared in the daily slides.
Khan Academy Mappers
This week the students will all have Khan Academy Mappers as a part of their practice. This program is specific to the needs of each child. It is based on their most recent NWEA scores. The goal is for the students to receive practice based on their specific needs. Please make sure the screen looks like the image below. They will choose a math strand (Geometry, Measurement & Data, Numbers & Operations, or Operations & Algebra) and begin the learning path.
They will not log in with Google.
This is what their screen will look like once they choose a strand.
The student will then work on their learning path from top to bottom.
If the student is unsure they can get a hint.
Friday Enrichment Day
If you would like an opportunity for your child to get in some extra academic practice, there will be a Google slide with enrichment activities made available to them on Fridays. This is optional but highly suggested. Also, if there are assignments or a day's work that was missed during the week you could use Friday as a make-up day.
West Bloomfield Township Library Card
Need a library card to get access to more books online?
All Zoom schedules are pictures for reference. The actual schedule with links will be provided by the teacher.
Daily Expectations
The 3rd grade team would like to remind everyone that when possible it is a good idea to make sure to continue to practice math and reading.
- At least 30 minutes of reading a day.
- Math practice on Xtramath, Freckle, Prodigy, and/or Khan Academy Mappers.
- Writing- we highly recommend a journal that the children can write in daily or weekly.
