SIXTH FORM

From the Heads of Sixth Form

All students, whether they are Year 12s following their 1 to 1 mentoring sessions, and Year 13 after speaking to Mr Giles, know what work and effort is required of them over the coming holiday. Whilst the Easter break is a good time for revision, do remember a balance and use it for some rest and recreation too. We wish you a good holiday.

Swimarathon Award Ceremony Friday 17th March

The Lions Club of Maidenhead held their presentation of awards evening for the annual Swimarathon on Friday 17th March. From all the teams from all the participating organisations, Chris Rayer (Year 13) was the swimmer who collected money from the highest number of sponsors ( in excess of 50 people) and was therefore presented with a special trophy. The presentation was made by Jeanette Chippington, the British Paralympic swimmer and canoeist, who won gold for Britain in Rio last year. Between them, the Sixth Form swimmers, who were represented at the award evening by Flora Gault, Alexei Murphy and Chris Rayer, raised a total of £681.41. This was a tremendous total and half the money will be used by the Lions Club for local charities and half will be given to Foodshare one of the Sixth Form's chosen charities. Towards the end of the evening, after most people had gone home, Chris, Flora and Alexei engaged in great conversation with Jeanette Chippington about her olympic competitions - to the extent that one of the Lions club members came over to say what a HUGE credit they were to Claires Court and what interesting, interested, confident and lovely teenagers they all are.

Spring Concert

A fantastic performance from all our Year 12 and Year 13 students. The singing and musicianship was a joy to behold. Big congratulations must also go to the technical team.

Followers not Friends

A group of year 9, 10s and 11s from Redroofs acting school came in this week to perform the "Followers not Friends" production that they had written themselves which explored the social media world and its associated pressures and emotional turmoil for young people. It was a very hard hitting, emotional production but was essential viewing for all our students.
