Peter Noyes ROCKS!
You may have noticed your child coming home with a little extra color on their hands. That is because we have begun a project called "Peter Noyes Rocks My World!" Thanks to the PTO, each member of the Peter Noyes community (staff and students) are in the midst of painting and decorating their own kindness rock. We are currently in phase 1, painting their undercolor. After February break we will spend more time decorating and making each rock our own. Once the weather warms, we will have an art installation and everyone's rock will be placed in the courtyard in its forever home. We will take pictures of each student and their rock to send home to families.
Thank you to the PTO for their support of this project! We will send pictures soon!
It is cold at school too! Please remember hats, mittens, gloves, snow pants!
Dear Families,
Thank you for your continued partnership during this unprecedented school year. In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have been working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) to offer free rapid BinaxNow COVID-19 testing for symptomatic students and staff participating in any type of in-person instruction.
While we have asked all students and staff who are sick to stay home, there may be members of our school community who first present symptoms while in school. Being able to test your child at school will not only expedite results and therefore help you determine next steps to protect your student and your family, but will allow us to conduct contact tracing immediately.
The COVID-19 Rapid Antigen COVID-19 Diagnostic Test is FDA approved and delivers results in 15 minutes. Our school nursing staff has been thoroughly trained on how to administer the test using a nasal swab. The decision to administer the test will be made by the school nurse, and you will be notified via phone call before your child is tested. The school nurse will communicate appropriate testing protocol based on your child’s individual needs.
You will also be notified immediately of the test results. If a student tests positive, the student will be sent home and must quarantine for at least 10 days and until at least 24 hours have passed with improvements in symptoms and no fever, without the use of fever reducing medications. If a student tests negative with the rapid BinaxNOW, they will also be sent home and will have to be confirmed with a negative PCR test within 48 hours. Regardless of the test result, you will be notified by the school regarding next steps to take with a healthcare provider. Sudbury Public Schools will report all test results to DPH and positive test results to DESE’s Rapid Response Help Unit.
To give permission for your student to participate in the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test, including permitting the school to share the test result information with the Department of Public Health and Project Beacon (a third party non-profit organization contracted to compile consent for testing and to share test results), you will need to set up an account.
The parent/guardian consent form code for Noyes Elementary School students is PCGOZX.
At Sudbury Public Schools, we are extremely grateful to our committed staff and families that continue to show great flexibility and resilience as we navigate through this school year. It takes all of us working together to contain the spread of this virus.
Please remember that any individual with symptoms should not be coming to school and should follow appropriate protocol.
If you have questions regarding the COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test please reach out to your school nurse.
Thank you,

Strengthening Your Student's Executive Function Skills and Independence During the Pandemic with Sarah Ward
About this Event
Hybrid? All remote? In the classroom?
Regardless of the environment, the demand on children's executive function skills is greater than ever. More and more independence is required of students to navigate school schedules, assignments, and due dates as well as manage the workload. Sarah will share many practical executive function-based interventions families could implement to improve organization, task, and time management.
