Classic Students Return Five Days a Week!
Happy Spring Break Panther Community,
The Panther Staff is thrilled to announce that upon return from spring break, our Classic students will be attending classes five days per week. With yet, another change, we are going to be returning to the original bell schedule we started the year with. When we return from spring break on April 5th, we will start with single periods on Monday, April 5 followed by block periods Tuesday through Friday. Periods 1, 3, 5 will be on Tuesday and Thursday and Periods 2, 4, 6 will be Wednesday and Friday.
All “Classic” students will return to school on April 5, 2021. If you are a classic student with virtual classes, you will once again have the option to attend these classes on campus in a proctored environment OR you can choose to take these courses off campus by completing the Parent Permission Form click here.
When students return to campus five days per week, it is imperative they follow all COVID protocols including maintaining social distancing (no less than 3 feet), wearing masks at all times, washing hands frequently, and staying home in the event any potential COVID symptoms arise.
We strongly encourage all students and parents to read their email a day or two before April 5th to get updates about our reopening that may arise over the next week. More information about our opening will likely be sent via email to families by Sunday, April 4, 2021.
There are undoubtedly questions about end of year activities including graduation from our community. More information will be provided about activities and events on, and associated with campus after spring break.
Our sincere hope is that this is the last major adjustment for the year. On behalf of the entire staff we offer our great appreciation to all of our families for all you are doing and have done to manage this pandemic and the impact on public education.
On behalf of the entire Panther Community, we wish you all a restful and rejuvenating spring break.

College Visits
Visits by college admissions reps are still taking place before and after school. This is a great opportunity for juniors to start their college exploration process so that they can select next year where to apply. All visits are open to any grade level. No sign up is needed, just click on the zoom link at the time of the visit and you're good to go.
Scholarships
From now until the end of April is peak Scholarship season. Seniors need to be searching for and applying for scholarships dollars. There is a scholarship for just about everyone. Make sure your senior is checking the Scholarship Bulletin on a regular basis and checking the College & Career Center google classroom. Many local scholarships will be coming up over the following months and local and regional scholarships are ones our seniors win each year.
Are you interested in starting your own scholarship or have one to promote to our students? Please contact Mr. Soderback (stephensoderback@vistausd.org).
Employment
Students who are looking for a job can join us every other Tuesday after school for JOB LAB online. The next session will be on February 9th at 2:45 PM - please register here.
Students who do get a job and are under 18 will need to have a work permit application signed by one of their parents, the new employer and Vista High School. The entire process is done online via email this year. This is the work permit application that needs to be filled in and emailed to Mr. Soderback (stephensoderback@vistausd.org).

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data

Vista High School Honor V Awards
Each year Vista High School celebrates Honor V.
The Honor “V” Awards originated in 1984, with the first honoree being the late Tony Duran.
Since that time, specially selected individuals are honored each year that have contributed to VHS students and the community over a significant period of time.
Following the ceremony, the awardees’ names are engraved on a perpetual plaque and are on permanent display in the Honor “V” Quad at Vista High School.
The Honor V award is the highest award recognized each year at Vista High School.
This Year we are happy to announce that our 2020 Honor V Recipients are :
Sandi Barnes
Theresa McMahon
Tammie Wood
Beverly Taylor
Michelle Gibson
Congratulations to our 2020 Honor V Recipients. We thank you for your dedication and service to our students, staff and school community.
