Stilwell Monday Message

Student and Family Communication

November - 11/22/21

Today is an ORANGE Day!

Students, please check to see what Access time you have signed up for today and tomorrow. If you have not yet signed up please partner with a teacher for support.

Just a reminder that beverages other than water need to be finished before class or consumed in the cafeteria to limit spills in our hallways and classrooms.

We hope all students enjoy their five days off from school this week. Please make sure you check your locker and lost and found to take all necessary items home.

Stiwell Winter Warmth Donations - a message from Student Council

We are accepting winter warmth items including winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens, blankets, hand warmers, and anything else that might keep someone warm this winter.

All donations will go to local homeless shelters and non-profits.

Please feel free to add these items to our donation bin located in the Stilwell front parking lot.

WDMCS - Family Support Groups

To best support underserved/underrepresented students, West Des Moines Community Schools has partnered with district families to create support groups for adult family members and caring adults of students of color and LGBTQIA+ students. Both groups will launch in the 2021-22 school year and will provide parents, guardians, and other caring adults with support networks and opportunities to learn, grow, and share resources.
Big picture

Drop Off & Pick-Up Protocol

We understand our parking lot drop-off and pick-up process can be time-consuming. However, we need all families to follow the procedures to ensure our students are safe. Please remember these guidelines:

  • Do not use the back parking lot and blacktop in the back of the building.
  • Do not use the local business as a place to pick up your child.
  • Do not drop off your student or stop for any reason along Vine Street or Grand Avenue.
  • Do not pull into the bus lanes along Vine Street.
  • Do not allow your student to exit the vehicle until you have pulled up to the curb in the parking lot.
  • Please drive slowly through the parking lot.

Stilwell Student Handbook 20-21

Throughout this year you may have questions, need clarifications, or might need to see who you can turn to for help. Please start with the Junior High Schools Handbook.

Stiwell PBIS Focus of the Week

This week we will be paying special attention to appropriate hallway behavior. We ask that students are in their classroom seats and ready to go!

Stilwell Winter Dance

The winter dance/special gathering will take place at Stilwell on Friday, December 3, 2021. The dance will run from 5-7 pm. Admission into the dance will be two canned food items or a piece of clothing to donate. Donated clothing cannot include any type of underwear, socks, shoes, or accessories. These donations will add to this month's donations for our school donation bin.
