Next Thursday is our 1st Annual Basketball Fundraiser. It will be held from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Belton Middle School/Freshman Center.

We are excited about this adventure and need your help to make it a success!! Keep watching for information about this event on Hillcrest's Facebook page and via PeachJar communications.

PLEASE help us raise money for our PTA and all of the amazing things they do for our students.

So far, we have not had a lot of participation - students can bring in as little as 50 cents to enter a raffle to participate in a basketball game or cheerlead at the event.

Prizes for students include the following:

  • $5.00= two tickets to the game and one raffle entry to play in the game! (other attendees will pay $3.00)(For every $5.00 raised, students will receive 2 tickets, so $10.00 = 4 tickets, and so on)
  • $20.00= students reaching this benchmark will attend an ice cream social
  • Top earner= Family pass to indoor pool at High Blue Wellness Center
  • Top Two earners= Principal for the Day

Questions can be sent to me, Kelly Meyers (PTA), or Mr. Winklemann.

This year first grade is asking that all students practice reading each night. Research has proven that reading daily, in some form, with early readers can greatly improve their abilities. In class we talk about how we use our reading skills all of the time to do everyday things. You can read to your child, have them read to you, or they can read alone. PLEASE continue to fill out the reading log and send it back each week. They come home on Fridays and should be returned the following Friday. A few students have only returned their reading log once or twice in the ten weeks that we have been doing this. Ask your student about the paper and find a safe place for it each night to remind you!

Thank you for helping make this and your child successful!

The last two weeks students have been experimenting with light and sound. We have discussed how sound and light moves and how we can use it to communicate across distances.

Cold Weather is Near!

Please be sure to send your student with jackets, gloves, etc. appropriate for outdoor recess. If your family has a need for a winter coat for your student, please contact our counselor, Mrs. Malone at .
