U.S. and Canada Relationship

What is the relationship between the U.S. and Canada?
While being similar in size, the U.S. and Canada have a lot of similarities and differences. Read bellow to learn more.
History
Christopher Columbus discovered the Bahamas in 1492. After a couple more voyages from different groups of men, they discovered North America and began settling there soon after. The first colony in North America was founded in 1607 in Jamestown, Virginia. From then on, both the U.S. and Canada began to grow. The U.S. became an independent country in 1776, while Canada became a country in 1867. Both grew from the small town in Virginia to what they are today.
Government
The U.S. is a Republic which means citizens vote for representatives, which in turn make some important decisions for the country. Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy which means they have a family or a specific person in charge.
Religion
Both countries are primarily Christian. Aside from Christianity, the biggest religion isn't even a religion. 20.5% of Canadians and 16.1% of Americans are not religious. There is only a small percent of people who believe in Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam.
Economics
The U.S. and Canada share the world's largest trading relationship. Many people have jobs as a result of this. Canada and the U.S. share an electricity grid. Canada supplies the U.S. with oil, uranium, chemicals, energy, smelting industries, and minerals from mining.
Social
The people that live in the U.S. and Canada have a lot of things in common. The majority speaks English, while some speak Spanish or French. They wear the same type of clothes, while people in the norther U.S. and in Canada have to wear things appropriate for colder weather, while people in the southern U.S. wear things appropriate for warmer weather.
Political
Canada and the U.S. have different forms of government. They have a very peaceful relationship and have never been to war with each other. They have basically the same laws, except for a few differences.
