COVID Update
Reminder to All Parents
Please be aware that the AHS Daily Assessment tool has recently changed. A new question about household contacts has been added for both over 18 and under 18. This change will add clarity for how we handle student cases where there is a COVID positive case in the home. The new question reads as follows.
Has your child been a household contact of a case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days? A household contact: a person who lives in the same residence as the case OR who has been in frequent, long-duration, close-range interaction with a case of COVID-19. For example, siblings, someone who slept over, or someone who provided direct physical care to the child.
If the answer is “YES” AND they are NOT fully immunized
- Child should stay home and NOT attend school, childcare and/or other activities for 14 days from the last day of exposure and monitor for symptoms. If your child has symptoms, proceed to question 2.
The updated AHS Daily Assessment needs to be completed and actioned each morning prior to coming to school.
PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL OF ABSENCES.
If your child is experiencing symptoms please choose:
“Flu-like symptoms”
“Other illness or injury” If they are experiencing symptoms that you do not deem to be flu-like, or your child has a medical appointment.
“Parent Excused.” If your child is experiencing no symptoms at all, please choose this. The parent excused absence should only be chosen if you are keeping your child home for a reason that does not pertain to a medical issue. (i.e dance competition)
We are doing our best to accurately monitor our school-wide absence rate for the health and safety of all staff and students. Your support with this is greatly needed and appreciated.
Student Absences and Google Classroom
Students who will be missing school for a planned and extended amount of time should also complete an Extended Absence Form to be completed by all classroom teachers and approved by admin.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to admin or front office staff should you have any questions.

On behalf of the ABJ Terry Fox Team (Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Ciezki, Mr. Lakeman), thank you for your support in helping to cure cancer!
