New Covid Testing Five Days a Week at VHS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Since our schools recently pivoted to Group Tracing, we understand that receiving a group notification letter and testing an exposed student can be challenging. We can help!
We are excited that we are able to offer free COVID testing by Inspire Diagnostics five days per week at VHS. Your student is welcome to test any day by walking into the testing room in the B building where there is a testing center flag. At the high school level, we will not be taking them to test - it is their responsibility to go during their breaks or ask for a pass during Panther Time.
To give your permission for students to be tested, please click here: Parent Permission for Student COVID-19 Testing. You will need your child's 9-digit student ID number to complete the form.
This is not a requirement, but a service we are providing to help simplify the testing process for your family. The test results will be sent directly to you, the parent. Please call the school with any positive result. Results may also be shared with the school.

Help your student start the semester strong! Panthers After Hours is a great place for students to get the help they need. We have library hours after school everyday from 2:20 - 5 pm. Students can work with classmates and/or tutors to start the semester off right.
Also in Panthers After Hours - Miss Janet's cooking class menus for this month include: chicken fried rice, tacos, lemon pound cake, spaghetti & meatballs, and pizza rolls. Classes are every Monday and Thursday, and the first 15 students to arrive can cook and then eat these great meals. Please check out www.panthersafterhours.com to see what else we have on offer for students everyday.

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data

Community Forum Follow-up
We would like to thank all of the parents who have attended our Community Forums. Your input is extremely essential in cultivating an understanding of how we can best serve our students. Our goal is to close the feedback loop so that you know what decisions are being made at your student's school. Through our conversations and the information we receive we can provide these directly to VHS Action Groups and help facilitate future action.
*Our next Community Forum is March 23*

The Importance of Community Engagement
The work we do as Community Liaisons is built on interactive methods that bridge communication between our school and the community. Our culturally rich experiences serve as our foundation for helping our students and their parents in a safe and loving environment. Based on the demographics of our community, Spanish is the home language for many of our families and for this reason we provide bilingual support while also acknowledging and honoring all languages, backgrounds, and narratives. We assist in facilitating families with access to communication and resources. In our mission, we strive to make our greatest efforts to preserve our connections and encourage learning and education for both our students and their families. -Dalia R. Hipolito Martinez
