The Walden Weekly

School News You Can Use - Sept. 9, 2022

Dear Walden Families,

Students began MAP testing this week. We assess students three times a year using the MAP assessment. MAP stands for Measures of Academic Progress. These assessments are a great way to see student growth over time since they are given from kindergarten through 8th grade in our district. While MAP testing is an informative piece of data that is reviewed by teachers, we collect a variety of other pieces of data about our students that also help to inform our instruction. These include pre/post tests in the classroom, writing samples, reading response questions, etc. Our teachers are amazing analysts of data!

We had our first fire drill of the school year today. We practice many drills throughout the year so our students are prepared for any situation that may arise. Everyone did a great job and the fire department was very impressed with our efficiency!

Thank you for a great week and we will see you on Monday!
