They Came... They Played & Sang... They Saved the Music... AGAIN!
Jazz Band Learns from a Pro
On Tuesday evening, State College composer and jazz performer, Rick Hirsch visited Tamanend to hold a clinic for Tamanend’s Jazz Band. Mr. Hirsch taught improvisational technique, soloing tips, and offered advice on how to perform with confidence on stage.
On Wednesday night, the Tamanend Jazz Band attended the Central Bucks District Jazz Festival at Holicong Middle School. They performed wonderfully and were noted by parents, staff, and administration for playing at a level far above their years. They were awarded for having a brass section who “laid it all out.” Kayla M. got a shout out for her “seriously funky drumming” in James Brown’s Cold Sweat. The trombone section was awarded a section award for their outstanding work; and individually, ninth graders Zac R. and Andrew B. were each presented individual solo awards for their work on bass guitar and tenor sax respectively.
The jazz band’s next performance will take place tonight at the Penndale Jazz Festival.

Winter Weather Traffic
When the weather gets messy, we create our own traffic with an increase of students who become carriders. Please allow your student to ride the bus if they are a regular bus rider. A good compromise that won't cause school traffic and lateness to work and school is to drive your student to the bus stop.
Thank you for your cooperation.
