DISTRICT JANUARY 15TH ANNOUNCEMENT
Power and internet connectivity continue to be an issue for many of our students and families. Students/staff are unable to leave their homes due to fallen trees, limbs, and wire and therefore, cannot access their assignments.
We are extending this week’s due date until Tuesday, January 19, at midnight, and next week’s deadline to Friday, January 22, at midnight.
Thank you for your patience and understanding for our students who are working through a power outage on top of the pandemic, at an already stressful time of the year (end of semester).
JANUARY 18TH - NO SCHOOL
ATHLETICS UPDATE
The WESCO League has set February 22nd, 2021 as a potential return date to sports this year. Each district has been asked to review the tentative plan and make a decision in early February as to whether the districts will participate this year.
Mr. Wilfong, our athletic director, has met with Dr. Shumate, Superintendent, and Christine Del Pozo, SHS Principal, to discuss the potential of starting our high school level sports. Mr. Wilfong will share our tentative high school and WESCO league plan at the school board meeting on Tuesday, January 19th. The plan will include Covid-related training for coaches and implementation of practice pods.
On February 1st the WESCO League Athletic Directors will meet to finalize the conference plan. An update will be provided after that meeting.
SIGNING UP FOR SPORTS
Any student interested in participating in sports this year should sign up now and get all of the required paperwork completed.
