The 2020-21 School Year
School starts on Monday, August 17, 2020! We are looking forward to working with you and your children this school year. It is no surprise that this year is unlike any other that any of us has ever experienced before. It is important that we keep that in mind!
Your child’s teacher will focus on connecting with your child in a virtual/online environment right away on Monday. They are going to focus on the technology necessary, of course, but more importantly they want to introduce themselves and get to know your child and the other children in the class right away. Many of the activities and lessons will focus on relationship building and the online environment procedures and routines. It may take several days for everyone to get into the flow. We, everyone in the school and at home, will make mistakes. We understand completely! Please be patient with us and with yourselves. Nobody is an expert in this arena because none of us have done this exact thing ever before! Remember that very few people have hopped on a bicycle and rode away without falling and scraping their knees or an elbow. We will all scrape our knees and elbows in this new learning environment! We will bounce back up and get on the bike, though!
You can count on your teacher connecting via Google Meet a few times or more per day. The teachers have been communicating via email already and will continue to do so to prepare you and your child. There will be times when tasks are assigned and students will work independently. A daily schedule will be created and shared. As needed, the daily schedule will be adjusted.
Watch for an email from me on Monday morning with a link to the Monday Morning Announcements! Feel free to join in with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Shadow Hills Way Pledge too!
We will have a Supplies and Materials pick up opportunity and the Welcome Back to the School Year Parade:
Supplies and Materials pick up schedule:
Tuesday-Thursday at 9:00-11:00 and 1:00-3:00
Welcome Back Parade:
Friday at 2:00-3:30...on Sloan Street in front of the school!
We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Please check in with your child’s teacher whenever you have questions. You can reach out to me too. Call me in my office at 208-854-6064 or send me an email at gale.zickefoose@boiseschools.org
Take care!
