WELCOME BACK!
School starts tomorrow August 9th, 2022. The main gates will open at 7:55AM and the first bell rings at 8:10AM. The school day ends at 2:45PM for 1st - 6th grades. Kindergarten will release at 2:30PM at the 27th Street gate except for the first 2 days of school. Kindergarten will dismiss at 12PM August 9th and 10th.
Students will go directly to the playground in the morning and find their line which will be labeled with the teacher's name. Staff members will be there to help students who are a little unsure.
Kindergarten parents, you may accompany your child to the playground for the first week of school only.
First grade will line up just inside the main gate.
Second through fourth under the ramada on the main playground
Fifth and sixth will line up on the basketball courts.
Special Areas Classes
This year we will provide an opportunity for students to collaborate with students from other classrooms in our PE, Music, Art, and NVAA classes. They will be appropriately divided to create a balance in numbers and to give the students the space to build relationships with one another in a less restrictive environment.
Message from our PTO President
Dear Desert Cove Families:
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to all of the new families, and reunite with the continuing Desert Cove families. My name is Tya Long, and this year I will continue to serve as your Desert Cove PTO President. I am truly honored to continue in this role, and am so grateful for the support of our fantastic Board and Desert Cove community. This will be my 10th year at Desert Cove Elementary as a parent, and I am a proud alumnus of Paradise Valley United School District.
As your PTO President, I am looking forward to working with our outstanding Principal Orest, our amazing teachers and staff members and awesome families. If this is your first year at Desert Cove, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you. Our mission is simple: to positively impact the lives of the Desert Cove community members. We tackle our mission by regularly supporting our teachers and staff, providing free or low cost events for families and serving as both a voice and resource for parents.
If you are a returning family, I know that you are as excited as I am to be starting another year! Whether a new PTO member or a returning member, we all understand that it takes a village to move the Desert Cove Community forward. The more we contribute, the more we can accomplish! Please consider starting the year by thinking of the ways in which you might get involved! Maybe you will help us keep the teacher snack tower stocked? Help at bingo? Movie night? Maybe the book fair is more your style? Or possibly spirit or restaurant nights? Do you like events or fundraising? Do you have a skill, like art or photography that might come in handy? We are so excited to meet our new families and learn more about them, and reconnect to others! Please make sure you attend our first PTO meeting on September 6th at 6:30pm in the media center!
The Desert Cove PTO Board would like to ask for you to take a moment and complete the 2022-23 PTO Family Input Survey. We want to hear from you. Your response will be used for planning activities and building a stronger community for our students and families.

22/23 Bus Routes for DC
Pick-Up and Drop Off for 1st through 6th grades
Students will be allowed on the playground at 7:55AM this year. The students will follow the same routine as last year and line up with their class on the playground or basketball courts. We will have plenty of supervision to help the students get to their perspective area.
Students are dismissed in three ways: they are picked-up via vehicle, they walk home, or they ride the bus.
All car riders, with the exception of Kindergarten, will be picked up in the main parking lot.
Students who are picked up by car will receive a number tag to hang on our review mirror. Parents are asked to stay in their cars and your child(ren) will be brought to you.
