VETERAN'S DAY RECOGNITION

This year we will be unable to have our regular Veteran's Day assembly however across the district and in the building we wanted to do something special to recognize Veteran's who have served our country. We will be asking all Ekstrand students to wear red on Wednesday November 11th as well as students and staff to email a photo of you with your favorite Veteran(s) for our Veteran's Day video. If you can get a picture taken with your Veteran(s), great! If not, please take a picture holding a photo of them.

Please include the following:

-Name and grade of student

-Name of Veteran and military branch

-Relation to student

Email these to kimberly.green@cd-csd.org by November 4th. Thanks!

Parent Teacher Conference Recap

Thank you parents for being flexible with the new format of parent-teacher conferences we experienced this fall. Please continue to be in communication with your child's teacher as we progress throughout this school year. We will be providing an update as to what spring conferences will look like in the coming months.

Temperature Guidelines for recess and before school

Now that we are in the cold weather season please be reminded to send your child with the appropriate winter gear to ensure they are properly equipped for the weather while they are outside while here at school. Below are the guidelines we use to determine whether students go out for recess or stay inside.

Our school adheres to the following wind-chill temperature guidelines:

Full Recess: 11 degrees or higher

Inside Recess: 10 degrees or below

MESSAGE FROM THE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Guidance

As we enter into another new month, our Guidance lessons will be taking a turn toward Feelings. All of the grade levels will be delving into some area of feelings. In Kindergarten they will begin naming and recognizing different feelings and as the grades increase to third grade, the students focus more on how to identify another person's feelings and why this is so essential. Whether we are discussing our own feelings or another person's feelings, there are three key components that help a person determine the feeling. These three include: looking at the person's face, looking at their body, and understanding the situation. These three components can help us determine our own feelings as well as recognize another person's feelings, allowing us to either calm ourselves down or help one another.
