Bring Your Own Device/Be Your Own Darwin
Overview
Part One: Darwin's Tweet's
- Find and follow Darwin's Twitter account (@ChuckyDarwin1).
- Download or print the excerpts from Darwin's voyage aboard the HMS Beagle here (pdf) or here (flipbook).
- Read the excerpts and take notes as you feel necessary.
- Find the tweets from @ChuckyDarwin1 that describes his location at that moment.
- Use the excerpts to determine Darwin's location, and reply with the correct location. For example: @ChuckyDarwin1 You are in the Galapagos Islands.
- Darwin may respond to your tweets if you are wrong. He may even give a hint or two.
- Expect three tweets. You may reply as often as necessary to receive full credit.
- If you cannot access Twitter, please visit this site.
- Once you are satisfied with your answers, submit all three locations (in order) to ewingbr@clearviewregional.edu (30 points)
Part Two: Darwin's Pics
- Watch this video about Natural Selection and Descent with Modification.
- Find or take a picture some pictures that you feel demonstrate each concept. (2 pic minimum)
- Post your pictures to Flickr (you may need to create an account) with text that describes why you have chosen your pictures.
- E-mail the links to your Flickr images to ewingbr@clearviewregional.edu
You may use other resource materials for this assignment as well (20 points)
Part Three: Darwin's Stance
While Darwin obviously believed in his theories of evolution, not everyone else is a fan. In fact, there are a great number of people that do not believe it should be taught in schools. Research arguments for both sides and discuss your own opinion with a 1-2 minute iPadio broadcast. This rubric will be used for each podcast. Submit the link to your broadcast to ewingbr@clearviewregional.edu.

Alternatives/Test Grade
If you would like your work for Be Your Own Darwin to count as a test, simply create your own smore page that contains your answers/pictures/podcast. Then send your teacher the link or write it down.
