Principal's Message
We had another great week at ACE! Your kids are saying more and more about how much they love our school and how happy they are here. Certainly the look of our building helps our case, but I still believe it is our wonderful staff that brings it all together for kids. Please take two minutes to send an encouraging email to your child's teacher. This simple act will encourage them and energize them as we move forward through the year.
We hope by now you have noticed that our afternoon dismissal time is continuing to decrease. On Friday we were truly done by about 3:35, but stayed because some families continued to roll up to pick up their kids. Our goal is to get to a place where we are done by 3:35 daily. Our ability to do this is directly related to our staff who spend their time outside helping kids to stay safe. Thank you for the patience you have extended to us as our team has learned together.
Beginning next week, we will feature one of our instructional leaders in each newsletter, teaching you about how you can support your student's learning at home. These may be videos or articles or other forms of communication. We have two purposes for this. We want you to be impacted by the great leaders we have in our building, and we especially want to equip our families to support learning at home. It is all about removing the intimidation factor for you! Kids learn more if the school and the home are both supporting them, and we want to partner with you to make this a reality.
We hope you have a great week!

Construction Update
This week we received our staff computer devices after many weeks of delays. These are currently being deployed in our classrooms. We also received the microphones and chargers for something called a Front Row that every one of our classrooms has! This system essentially allows the teacher to wear a wireless microphone and project their voice around the room so everyone can hear. This gives our teachers greater freedom to walk around as they are facilitating instruction.
We are told that the paint has come in for an offsite crosswalk in the community and are waiting on more information about where that will be. We are also waiting on further signage in our driveways and arrows being painted on our driveway to indicate traffic direction.
Watch D.O.G.S Launch
Our Watch D.O.G.S. launch is coming on September 1! Dads, grandpas, uncles, or other positive male role models are encouraged to attend a breakfast with their kids at 7am on September 1 in our cafeteria. We will give a brief overview of the Watch D.O.G.S. program and will give you plenty of time to enjoy the company of each other as a family. You will be able to sign up on the spot and will learn about how we will schedule you for service in our building.
Please, No Lunch Deliveries
We ask that you not drop off lunch from outside vendors for your student. We do not have the staffing or capacity to deliver these items to students due to having a very busy office environment. If students forgot to bring their lunch, please remember that they get free lunch all year long!
And instead of bringing food, we encourage you to come volunteer in our cafeteria and eat lunch with your student on the same day! For more information and to sign up, please go to the PTO signup page or see the list of various ways you can volunteer.
We Need YOU
Coffee with Ms. Booker
Please join our assistant principal Ms. Booker for "Coffee with Booker" in our cafeteria this Thursday August 26 at 7am. We will provide the coffee and opportunity for conversation with Ms. Booker. You can talk about anything you want, but she will be interested in asking you about:
what you and your family needs from the school administrators at ACE.
what are we doing a good job on as a school.
what we need to improve on.
This is valuable time for you to connect with one of our very important leaders at ACE! Please join us.
Clubs Coming Soon
Clubs and organizations will be launched at ACE in September! Our staff will be meeting this week to plan out the launch of these clubs and how we will advertise them to kids! These are just a few of the clubs we plan on offering:

Staff Favorite Book
This is an amazing story of a 5th grade classroom and it is told through the point of view of seven different fifth graders, which is one of the many reasons that I love it so much. It is beautiful and, at times, humorous, getting to see the different perspectives of the students as they experience their fifth grade year. You come to know these characters on such a deep level and see them transform throughout the book into caring, humble, and selfless human beings. The trials and tribulations they experience bring all of these completely different characters together and ultimately, with the help of their teacher, they become a family. As a teacher, it reminds me why I love doing what I do. I love seeing my classroom become a home and my students become a family, which is exactly what this book showcases! It is an AMAZING and CAPTIVATING read.
