Mrs. Ifft's Friday Flier

October 14th, 2016

Class Dojo

A flier came home in your child's Thursday folder yesterday about our new behavior management system, Class Dojo. This is a powerful and motivating tool for students in our classroom and they are all very excited about this new program.

You received a unique parent access code for you to use to set up a Parent Account. Through this account, you can see a daily report of your child's behavior. You may be asked to download the Class Dojo app, which I recommend, or you may use the URL provided on the parent access code form.

I highly encourage you to create a parent account. It is a great way to get immediate feedback on your child's behavior at school. If you need another parent code, please email me and I can print a new one to send home.

Eastshore Food Drive

Please consider participating in our school wide food drive. Second grade is collecting donations of hearty soups and chowders. You may bring in donations every morning until October 18th.

Each grade level is building a canned food tower - let's help grade 2 build the highest one!

Homework Update

At this time, second grade is going to continue our "no math homework" policy. We have discussed our decision with Mrs. Kadam and she supports our action.

For parents looking for extra practice for their children after school, the second grade teachers are suggesting 2nd Grade Math workbooks found at local bookstores or wholesale stores. We also encourage math fact practice with flashcards, as well as websites and math games found on our classroom website.

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week.

  • Our school is participating in a PENNY drive. Please send PENNIES ONLY to school with your student next week!

Red Ribbon Week Schedule:

Monday: Wear Red!

Tuesday: Bring a baby photo to add to our mural outside the front of the school

Wednesday: Walk to School. Meet at the bridge by the lake to walk to school and wear Eastshore Spirit Wear

Thursday: Wear Superhero shirt, shorts, dresses or socks (no costumes)

Friday: Wear your favorite sports team shirt or jersey

It is necessary for your child to have a pair of earbuds to use with their iPads and Chromebooks. Please send in a pair (I will label them if you do not) with your child as soon as possible. Thank you!

Treasure Box Donations

I have started a small class treasure box for students to "shop" in for good behavior and team competitions. It's stocked with items from the Target Dollar Spot (pencils, erasers, pencil caps, stickers, etc.) If you find yourself in the Dollar Spot, we'd love any $1 items to add to our treasure. Thanks in advance for thinking of our class!

*please no Pokemon, Disney or Lego items*
