A PRINCIPAL UPDATE FOR OUR CHANDLER FAMILIES
May 7, 2021
Cheetah Family,
I can't believe we only have two weeks left of school! We have so many things planned for students this month as we are finishing up the 2020-2021 school year. One of my favorite parts of this time of year is getting to see and hear about all the growth our students have made this past year...regardless of the challenges we've faced. It is incredible to see academic growth, but even more amazing is the social and emotional growth we have seen this year. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child's education! Thank you!
Next week is STAAR testing for grades 3-6. Information was shared previously, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.
Finally, we are extremely appreciative of all the kindness and generosity you showed during Staff Appreciation this week. We definitely felt the love! A special shout out to PTA for the amazing week of wonderful treats, gifts, and lunch. It was AWESOME!
Happy Mother's Day!
Have a relaxing weekend!

Library News
Thank you to everyone who turned in library books this week. We are still on the hunt for many more. Reminders will be sent out this week about books that are still checked out. If your child has any missing books please have them look in the classroom, at home, after school care, and in the car before paying the replacement cost of the book. At home students can return any found books to the office during school hours or during the designated supply and device collection times at the end of the school year. Contact carrie.rios@allenisd.org for replacement cost information for lost books. Thank you!
We know our Cheetahs have worked so hard this year and have improved their reading skills. We hope everyone continues to practice and build their reading skills over the summer and avoid the “summer slide” (a decline in reading skills). Check out our summer reading and learning page with includes information about our Summer Reading Olympics on the Chandler Library website. https://www.allenisd.org/Page/58539
Covid Field Day 2021 is in the books!!!!
It started with a windy hot day followed by a rain delay and then finished with 2 cool sunny days.
Each day the students got to experience something different from kickball, nine square in the air, to relays.
Kindergarten thru 3rd grade received a little extra help from some special 6th graders that helped them learn to play the games and relays.
We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all the parents for encouraging your child to wear a mask and bring a water bottle.
This was a different field day, but everyone seemed to have fun even with all the restrictions that were placed upon us.
Next year we will be back to normal and have a 1-day Field Day and as parents we will need your help so be on the lookout for date next year!
We appreciate your continued support and partnership as we navigate the 2020-2021 school year together. Go Cheetahs!
Thank you,
Bobbie Allen
