How my brain functions

I'm comfortable using strategies for both sides for the brain. My preference may be situational and apparent mainly when stress becomes a factor. This really does not mean that I'm ambidextrous. But however, I am on my way to becoming whole brained and will benefit from using study strategies useful for both sides of my brain.

Some of my traits associated with both of my left and right side of the brain are listed below

Type of Cognitive Processing

Brief Description

  • Linear Processing information from part to whole in a straight forward logical progression.

  • Holistic Processing information from whole to part; sees the big picture first, not the details.

  • Sequential Processing information in order from first to last.

  • Random Processing information with out priority, jumps form one task to another.

  • Symbolic Processes symbols an pictures; likes to use letters, words and mathematical symbols.

  • Concrete Processes things that can be seen , or touched - real objects.

  • Logical Processes information piece by piece using logic to solve a problem.

  • Intuitive Processes information based on weather or not it feels right know answer but not sure how it was derived.

  • Verbal Processes thoughts and ideas with words.

  • Nonverbal Processes thought as illustrations.

  • Reality-Based Processes information based on reality; focuses on rules and regulations

  • Fantasy-Oriented Processes information with creativity; less focuses on rules and regulations

What is Hemisphericity for those who still dont have a clue what it is lol :)

Hemisphericity referred to the idea that people rely on a preferred mode of cognitive processing that is linked to predominant activity of either their left or right cerebral hemisphere.
