Newsletter Term 2 Week 10
St Patrick's School Masterton 6th July 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
On Friday, the staff and students of the Kildare syndicate led our school celebration of Matariki. The children through their karakia and waiata recognised the significance of new beginnings, especially for our Year 6 students as they spend their last two terms with us and prepare for a move onto a new school. Thank you to all the families who got up early and joined us at school for the celebration.
IMPORTANT SCHOOL SHOW INFORMATION
This week is show week and everyone is very excited about our school show which is a celebration focused on the theme of ‘Peace’. The teachers and children have spent a lot of time over the past few weeks practising their items and we are sure that you will thoroughly enjoy the performance tomorrow night.
Key information that you need to know is:

Students are to come dressed in their costume
Due to copyright licences you may not film and post video of the show on social media. Instead, to ensure you have a great memory of the show, we have arranged for the show to be professionally filmed and be on sale at the school office for $20
Please return all borrowed costumes to school the day after the show
This Friday we will be taking part in ‘Mufti Mania’ along with all other Catholic Primary Schools across New Zealand. Mark 6:1-6
Jesus Is Rejected at Nazareth
Jesus left that place and went back to his hometown, followed by his disciples. 2 On the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue. Many people were there; and when they heard him, they were all amazed. “Where did he get all this?” they asked. “What wisdom is this that has been given him? How does he perform miracles? 3 Isn't he the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? Aren't his sisters living here?” And so they rejected him.
4 Jesus said to them, “Prophets are respected everywhere except in their own hometown and by their relatives and their family.”
5 He was not able to perform any miracles there, except that he placed his hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 He was greatly surprised, because the people did not have faith.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples
Then Jesus went to the villages around there, teaching the people.
New School App
As you are now aware we are now longer using the Skool Loop app. Instead, we have changed to the app that is part of our School Management System, eTap. This is the current system we use for student records and information. Later this year it will also be what we use to communicate student progress in their learning (reporting).
A few weeks ago you will all have received an email (sent to the email address we have on file for you) with instructions on how to download and set up the ‘@school’ app. If you have not received this please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and if you have any further questions please speak to Kim in the office.
