Message from the Principal
Dear Lynnhaven families,
It is hard to believe that the first half of the school year is behind us. I am so proud of how hard the students and teachers have been working this year! In January we opened up 2019 with Lions' League where superheros and students went head to head to sort the behavior matrix, our GRRR code. Students were reminded that at Lynnhaven we are Guided to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. We focused on being Ready to Learn with our eyes, ears, and learning brains. Students have been doing a wonderful job remembering the GRRR code since our Lions' League!
As we begin the second semester, it is a wonderful time to talk about goal setting. This time of year students are encouraged to revisit their goals and set new ones for the second half of the year. I look forward to seeing their growth and progress!
Sincerely,
Teri Breaux

Annual School Report Card
Lynnhaven Elementary Schools’ Annual School Report Card, which contains information about your child’s school, is available for viewing on the Virginia Beach City Publics Schools’ website (http://www.vbschools.com). The direct link to the annual report cards can be found here (https://goo.gl/8Uojzs). Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) publishes annual school reports cards to aid you in addressing the many aspects of your child’s school and for evaluating success over time.
As in previous years, each report card contains students and staff characteristics, perceptions of education quality, attendance, school performance, and progress toward meeting state and federal accountability requirements. We continue to place an emphasis on student outcomes, which extend beyond the traditional Standards of Learning assessment results. Information is included in the school report card that would not be found elsewhere such as the Integrated Performance Task (IPT).
As always, the Standards of Learning information for Lynnhaven Elementary School can still be found on the Virginia Department of Education website (www.doe.virginia.gov).
We hope that you will use the information o the Annual School Report Card as a starting point in considering how Lynnhaven Elementary School is performing If you have any questions, please contact the office at (757)648-3000.
SOL Testing Grades 3-5
As a reminder to our families, on December 10, 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) was signed into law. Section 1112(e)(2) of ESSA states that parents of students in Title I schools have a right to know about state or division policies regarding student participation in any assessments mandated by ESSA, including any policy, procedure, or parental right to opt students out of such assessments. If you would like to receive information about this topic, please contact Dr. Lynell Powell either by phone at (757)648-3000, or in writing at 210 Dillon Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
