Micro Elementary School Newsletter

This Week's Focal Points
On Tuesday Evening, at the district level advisory council meeting, JCPS presented its latest living legends. This is always an awesome event. The three living legends that were celebrated were: Shirley Cohen, Butler Hall, and James Pittman. All three are lifelong educators who served JCPS for many years. They each shared a message for educators that I wanted to share with you in this week's newsletter.
Shirley Cohen: "You must have the love of God in your heart for all children. It doesn't matter where they come from or who they are. All children can succeed if we love, nurture, and encourage them along the way. Be tough-minded, but tender-hearted and kind. Never give up on anyone. Miracles do happen as long as you keep the faith. Recognize that the welfare of one child is intimately linked to the welfare of other people's children. So, use your integrity, wisdom, love, and commitment to help all children to be the best they can be!"
Butler Hall: "Leave a valuable legacy."
James Pittman: "All educators should accept responsibility for the success of their students. All students can be successful if teachers incorporate various teaching methods to aid students in reaching their potential."

Lexia Update: 53% of our students have met their unit completion goal during the month of October. Lexia is a great resource for students to work on filling gaps they have in their foundation reading skills. Lexia is great for center work, morning work, or when parents are looking for ways to help at home.
Staff: Please remind students to be on the correct voice level as they go through the lunch line.
