Big picture

Tis the Season to Be Grateful

The Prospect Staff and I are so grateful that we are able to work with your children everyday, either in hybrid or remote learning model, especially during this unique time in our lives. We count everyday as a blessing to be able to enter our safe/clean building with our colleagues to pursue our passion of teaching children, collaborate with colleagues on best practices during this "new time" of teaching, and continue to build a partnership with our families. The entire Prospect staff joins me in wishing you and your family a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.

We are so thankful for the kind emails, "thankful" shout outs in the car line, generous and delicious treats brought to school, and the wonderful thank you in the Clarendon Hills Courier. Our goal is to keep our doors open and continue with our learning models. Over the Thanksgiving break, please remember the 3W's, and continue to keep everyone safe. We look forward to conferences on Monday and Tuesday and seeing your kiddos return on November 30th.

Safety Reminders from District 181

We Need Your Help to Stay on Track - CDC and IDPH Guidelines

Please note the following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Illinois Department of Public Health:

  • Holiday Gatherings: Limit in-home gatherings to immediate household members, per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Illinois Department of Public Health.

  • Recreational Activities: Pause all indoor group sporting and recreational activities, including youth and adult recreational sports, per the Governor’s order.

  • Traveling: According to the CDC, travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

It is important that we are able to continue to monitor COVID metrics over the Thanksgiving break. If your child becomes symptomatic, tests positive, or is a close contact to a positive case, please be sure to use this link or the one located on your school’s homepage to make a timely report.

Switching to Remote Learning

The recent increase in quarantined and isolated students has created a capacity issue for our remote learning program. While we are not currently at full capacity, we want to ensure that we have enough spaces to include any new students who have COVID-19 related medical reasons to shift to remote learning.

  • Medical Reasons: For the next few weeks, only students who will be out for more than six days due to a COVID-19 related medical reason (e.g. required to isolate or quarantine) will be able to move to a remote learning classroom.

  • Non-Medical Reasons: If your child will be absent for an extended period of time for a non-medical reason, please work with your child’s teacher regarding missed content.

At the end of December, we will reassess our District's remote learning capacity and send more information at that time. Looking ahead, parents will have the ability to shift their child from hybrid to full remote or vice versa on February 1 via an enrollment form that will be sent by email in mid-December.

D181 Covid Dashboard

The dashboard is updated daily at 4 pm.

After School Math Support

If you are seeking some help with math for your child’s asynchronous work, there are after school virtual sessions where teachers are available to work with your child! Parents, please refer to the appropriate section below to sign your child up for support. Please note, elementary sessions are 15 minutes long. Please do not sign up for more than one time on a single day.

Kindergarten, First, & Second Grades

Please make the appointment using your (parent) personal email.

  1. Click this appointment calendar link.

  2. Find an appointment time that works for your child and click on it.

  3. You do not need to enter a location but you can put something in the description box regarding the type of support needed.

  5. You will receive an email with a meeting link for your child to join the appointment.

  • The teacher you will be meeting with may not be your child’s math teacher.
  • If you no longer need the appointment, please send the teacher an email. This will allow another student to sign up for help!

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades

Please have your child make the appointment using their D181 student email login so that the meeting links show up on the student’s Google Calendar.

  2. Find an appointment time that works for him/her and click on it.

  • A calendar of available time slots will appear. Your D181 calendar will show up as well. Choose the best time for you, and sign up!

  • Prior to your scheduled meeting time, the teacher will add a Google Meet link to the calendar event.

  • If you no longer need the appointment, please delete the event from your own calendar and send the teacher an email. (There is an option for that to happen automatically when you delete it!) This will allow another student to sign up for help!
