KPMS Mindful Minute
KPMS Guidance Department
We made it through Week 1! Moving to distance learning is tough for you, your friends, teachers, parents and other family members. We all need to learn a new routine and may feel alone and confused trying to complete work while not in classroom. Ugh! Don’t worry, we are going to keep it short and consider what we can do to make it better.
Sit back, relax and let’s take a deep breath together…. This week’s topic is breathing.
Relaxation Technique
BOX BREATHING
Don't we all miss Officer Palladini!!?? (Please do not forget to thank any first responders in your life)
Please watch the attached video. Officier Palladini is going to teach us how to be more alert, grounded and ready to tackle our day in this special KP video she made just for you.
Try to practice box breathing at least five minutes to get the full effect. The ultimate goal would be to do box breathing for 10 to 20 consecutive minutes a day, then do a few one- or two-minute sessions during the day, or as needed.
Mindfulness Activity: Make your own box breathing sign
Officer Palladini sketched one in her video and below is an example of an automated graphic. It’s your turn to make your own. Use this sign as your guide and reminder. Put it somewhere you will see it often. Consider teaching your family and friends. If you want, consider sharing your sign with us.
1. Get a piece of paper and writing tools
2. Draw a box with 4 lines and label
