January's topic: Internet Awareness/Social Media Decisions
Why do we say Internet Awareness as opposed to Internet Safety?
Using the word "safety" to describe our workshop on the internet implies that the internet is safe. I want to be clear that you can be smart on the internet but keeping safe is your responsibility. Being aware is the most you can do, following the rules you have learned at school and the ones your parents put in place is a part of the responsibility you need to follow to be smart on the internet. Safety is not guaranteed.
LEARNING TARGET(s)
- Students can recognize the impact of their actions for themselves and others when they post something on line.
- Students will become cognizant of who can access their information when they post items.
